The Secret to Success with La Tesce: Hip-Hop Artist

The Secret to Success with La Tesce: Hip-Hop Artist

The secret to success is envisioning the future you want to have. This week's episode features local CT hip-hop artist, La Tesce. We first connected at an open-mic in the summer of 2019 at a local venue & I was so inspired by her music and stage presence. She's such a go-getter and this interview will motivate you to step up your game in whatever side-hustle or creative pursuit you're working on.

    In this episode she shares:

    - Ways she holds herself accountable as an artist

    - How she's been nourishing her creativity during COVID

    - The importance of surrounding yourself with people that work harder than you

    - Her songwriting process

    - What it's like being a female rapper

    - How she stays focused on her vision & career

Listen to La Tesce on Spotify, subscribe on Youtube, and follow her on Instagram for more updates! Some of my favorite songs of her's are Culture, Warning, and Late Night. It's impossible to NOT dance to her music!

Fighting Racism in Suburbia with Kennedy Williams: Activist & Leader

Fighting Racism in Suburbia with Kennedy Williams: Activist & Leader

With the tragic killing of George Floyd, we have witnessed how much racism has shaped America and how crucial it is to continue fighting racism. It exists in a multitude of our country's systems and institutions, especially in white suburbia.

Growing up in Glastonbury, CT, a predominately white town, I always wondered why we only had a handful of Black students in school. And going through a white-washed school system, it wasn't until leaving high-school and going to college in New York City that I realized how cookie-cutter and privileged my hometown and high-school experience really was.

This week I had the honor of interviewing Kennedy Williams, a Glastonbury High School alum, who is founder of Black in Glastonbury, a Black Lives Matter group focused on brining inclusivity change to white suburbia. Kennedy opens up about her experience growing up in a town that's 87% white and in this episode we discuss:

Inspiration for starting Black in GlastonburyBeing the only Black student in classTypes of racism she experienced from students and teachersHistory lessons we weren't taught in schoolThe power of collaborationCreating effective change

Losing Your Passion & How to Find It Again

Losing Your Passion & How to Find It Again

Losing your passion feels absolutely awful. It seems like one day you just wake up and nothing excites you anymore. You dread your job, your daily routine, and are unmotivated to do things that bring you joy & excitement.

    In this episode I discuss:

What it feels like to be uninspired & disconnected from yourselfFactors that are draining your passionMotivation to leave the job you hatePractices & Tips to help re-ignite your passion

I believe for most of us, a job we're not crazy about is the root cause of our unhappiness. We spend a majority of our week working, and if you hate your job, think about how much time and energy you're giving away to something you resent. I hope this discussion inspires you to make in a change in your life and to rediscover your passions. Share it with someone you know that could use some help on this topic!

Amazing and very true!

Even if you don't think you are going to relate to an episode, you do! Emily does an amazing job talking about serious topics but adds that humor because what is life if there is no humor - especially in 2020. I can't wait for more episodes!!
