Shift Your Mindset to Uplevel Your Brand

Shift Your Mindset to Uplevel Your Brand

Have you been telling yourself a story that isn’t serving you? Today’s episode is all about how your mindset can alter your life and business for better or for worse.

Podcast guest Jen Diaz shares her positive mindset journey that began when she was a high school athlete [3:15]. Jen discovered the power of mindset work through a thoughtful coach and a winning shot and has created a career centered around empowering women through mindset.

We all have a “mindset” journey. There’s a point in life where we catch ourselves beating ourselves up and come to some sort of realization that this isn’t good. Doubting your gut can lead to missed opportunities. Kristen shares a personal story [8:19] where she discovered how her mindset was holding her back and how she’s since shifted to move forward in her goals.

There’s a big phenomenon where people are scared to put themselves out there and either don’t follow through with their big idea at all or don’t go all in [12:30]. Jen explains how fear can play a huge role in self sabotage and how you can shift your mindset to cultivate a good relationship with it. Jen also shares how social media today can play a role in a feeling ‘stuck’ mindset [15:30].

Kristen and Jen talk about how we can literally rewire our brains to change the outcomes we experience [19:52]. Jen shares how we have the power to delete and create new neural pathways (AKA shifting our mindset) to feel better- crazy right [21:29]? You can do this by mediation, journaling, breathing exercises etc. It’s closing the gap from where you are to where you want to be. Kristen shares how she has been rewiring of neural pathways through the power of thought to heal her chronic back pain.

Jen shares her “why” [24:16] and how she deals with limiting beliefs. Negative thoughts are part of our existence and it’s how you interpret them that makes or breaks your positive mindset.

Since creating a positive mindset, Jen has achieved new career heights [29:09]. She is passionate about empowering women and creating a healthy, positive mindset for others.

Innovation to Viral Video with Lindsay McCormick

Innovation to Viral Video with Lindsay McCormick

What would you do if you woke up tomorrow and found out your product or service went viral?

That’s exactly what happened to today’s podcast guest, Lindsay McCormick founder of Bite, zero waste toothpaste tablets.

Lindsay is an innovator with an earth first mentality. She is all about making an impact and knows that with sustainable goals and a “better for your body” selling point. If you want to really make an impact, you also have to make it fun [6:30]- cue the new Bite flavors.

Lindsay also talks about her launch of “Floss” [6:56] – another zero waste dental product. She’s basically become a chemist in her kitchen- ironically her worst subject in school. With enough research and drive, you can literally do anything.

Be an outsider and get your information from insiders to view old ideas at an entirely new angle [10:10]. And the amount of times it took Lindsay to get it right? Hundreds or thousands [11:10]. But, like with anything else- hard work pays. To further prove this, Lindsay shares the top 3 lessons she’s taken away since the start of Bite [12:57].

Lindsay is constantly in search of customer feedback to constantly better her brand. Lindsay took valuable tips from her customers to make her brand not only stronger, but more eco-friendly as well [16:36].

Lindsay shares her story of going viral through a video [21:28] with 2 million plus views overnight which turned into hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales – a true testament of the power of a video with a link next to it.

Lindsay discusses greenwashing and what to look out for (yes it is a real problem) [26:04] and why being sustainable isn’t just about jumping onto a trend. Lindsay is incredibly proud to have a company that really does good for the world and is not slowing down anytime soon. She’s fierce and on fire for success.

Telling a Story With a Single Image with Lola Akinmade Åkerström

Telling a Story With a Single Image with Lola Akinmade Åkerström

In the digital age we live in, everyone can take a good photo, but taking a great photo that truly draws you in is something entirely different.

This week, photographer, author and TEDx speaker Lola Akinmade Åkerström joins Kristen and shares her take on storytelling through a single image. That’s right! We’re talking photography.

The first step is finding your unique voice. Lola discovered her voice in a most inspiring way [6:18].

There is power in being subtle, yet memorable. There is also power in a name. When trying to capture rawness in a photo, calling someone by their name – one of the only things that is universal in all languages – can bring out the greatest authenticity [14:45] while creating connection.

Lola dishes out photography tips for lifestyle brands that help create success in storytelling [15:09]. She also shares expert framing tips [17:08].

Throughout the pandemic, Lola has remained positive and shares how her idealist views have gotten her through the hardest of times [19:40]. She also shares where to find all of her resources for those who are craving more Lola insight [23:00].

Your Story is Your Crib Sheet

Your Story is Your Crib Sheet

How good is your elevator pitch? Does it draw people in? Can you say the same thing about your brand story, or is that not on the top of your mind?

If storytelling hasn’t been art the forefront for you, today’s episode will help you change that in order to create a more connected client base ultimately creating more success for the future of your brand.

What can you get out of good storytelling? Your story is your crib sheet.

First, it helps you break through the clutter of all of your competitors. It’s a big world out there, success is found in standing out.

Also, consumers want to dive deeper and know more about brands before purchasing nowadays- AKA they want to know your story.

Does storytelling give you anxiety? We have some great resources to help you alleviate this and hone in on exactly who you’re talking to and what your consumer wants so you can tell the best stories for your brand.

Everyone has a story, but it’s the way your story is told that makes you unique.

Aida and Kristen walk you through some storytelling fails so you can get a grip on what not to do. The first is that being talked about is not always a good thing. Other fails are copycatting another brands’ message, not having a clear story/message or when you’re trying to tell too many stories or talk to too many people.

So. How do you know you have a successful story?

There are 5 things a successful story achieves: it communicates your brands’ unique value, draws in the right kind of potential client, shows brand value consistency, fosters brand advocates, and creates a universe your ideal customer can live in.

Now it’s time for you to get out there and start telling your stories!
