Welcome to the Women of Color Talk Biz podcast. I’m your host, Monica Barriga-Weyers. This platform is for you if you want to hear about women of color sharing success strategies in the trenches from their early years to working their way up as managers and founders. We’re covering areas in tech, media, and the corporate floors of America. Getting access to how they do it is key to knowing how you can move smarter and faster by leveraging their diverse stories.
Our guest speaker is Tierra Smith, an award-winning journalist, editor, speaker, and world traveler. In this interview, she covers how she balances her career at KPRC Channel 2 in Houston, the NBC affiliate tv station, while also running her new media company. She’s also going to share with us how she successfully organized and ran a crowdfunding campaign during the pandemic!
Her passion is in storytelling to uplift the voices of women and marginalized communities. In 2019, Tierra launched Wins For Black Girls, a media platform that prioritizes spreading the good news about Black women. Through her text messaging platform, she sends tri-weekly news articles that cover news, politics, entrepreneurship, sports, and culture.
