    The Mets’ clubhouse meltdown & how to solve the Tampa Bay Rays’ stadium woes

    The Mets’ clubhouse meltdown & how to solve the Tampa Bay Rays’ stadium woes

    Yahoo Sports’ Tim Brown, Hannah Keyser and Chris Cwik are back to give their takes on the latest MLB stories, including the messy Mets, the desperate Rays and why rookies are so cool - among other things.

    Episode number “unlucky” 13 starts off with everyone sharing their superstitions (1:00);

    Adam Eaton said he doesn’t give a damn if minor-league players get exploited. Even though he later walked things back, how hurtful were his comments? Was the apology enough? (6:00);

    The Rays are moving … maybe. Probably not. Is this the dumbest idea you’ve ever heard? (13:00);

    Vlad Jr. is reportedly in for the Home Run Derby. Ohtani wants in. Luke Voit wants in. And Carlos Santana wants in. Who do you most want to see in there next? (15:00);

    Tim’s super secret coolest thing of the week (ding!)… ROOKIES! (19:00);

    We decide to embrace the whole Week 13 thing and discuss the most cursed thing in baseball … The Mets. After Mickey Callaway and Jason Vargas’ clubhouse beef with a reporter, we ask, was the punishment good enough? (24:00)

    Callaway says some weird stuff, but doesn’t really apologize. Should he have been fired for this? (not just the action, but the unapologetic response) (28:00)

    Have you ever seen anything like this in a clubhouse? Tim has. (Story time!) (37:00)

    Is Brodie Van Wagenen’s over-involvement with the Mets’ day-to-day decisions on the field to blame for the team’s failures? (41:00)

    And as always, the crew closes out the show with things they’re worried about — and things they are sure of. (45:00)

    They take a look at the Edwin Encarnacion trade and debate - Do the Yankees now have the best lineup in baseball? (02:30)

    Yu Darvish came back to LA this weekend and faced the Dodgers. He insulted the fan base for getting there late and turned in a dominant start against them. Is that enough to put this feud to bed? (09:00)

    Re-doing our MLB predictions, weird nicknames & MLB Draft takes

    Re-doing our MLB predictions, weird nicknames & MLB Draft takes

    Yahoo Sports' Hannah Keyser, Tim Brown & Chris Cwik are back with their takes on the latest in MLB.

    The crew takes a look back at their preseason predictions, but before they do, they toss around some weird baseball nicknames (2:00), share their optimism for the sport around the MLB draft (9:00) and discuss the big name free agents that look like they’re about to sign (13:00).

    Then it’s time for atonement as everyone looks back at their preseason predictions, fesses up to what they were really wrong about - and makes new predictions as we approach the 1/3 mark of the season (16:00).

    They close out the show with things they’re worried about and sure of, including a somewhat morbid note from Tim.

    Your team's already out of it? In May? Here's why you should keep watching

    Your team's already out of it? In May? Here's why you should keep watching

    Yahoo Sports' Hannah Keyser, Tim Brown and Chris Cwik are back to bring the power of positivity to six sad MLB fanbases.
    Yes, it's only May, but there are already six teams that have less than one percent chance of making the playoffs this season... So here's a podcast just for those fanbases, since it's the last time we'll probably talk about them the rest of the season. Now we can all move on. Unless you want ballpark-area bar recommendations from Tim Brown.

Possibly good but terrible audio

I keep giving this podcast a try but it’s so HARD to listen to it. I listen mostly in my car or while working out but the audio volume goes up and down depending on who is speaking. Guests are often far from the microphone or not mic’d at all? (for example Trevor Bauer, an especially awful audio quality). The mic volume and quality for Jeff, Mike and Tim is each different. Basically, I have to keep changing the volume depending on the segment or who is speaking, and then commercials will blast my ears loudly and suddenly.

Come on guys, potentially great content is being ruined by your audio quality. There are other podcasts out there with good audio quality, ask them about the microphones they use (e.g. Effectively Wild, Ringer MLB, etc.). Ugh, I’m getting ready to give up if this doesn’t get fixed.

Last year was great...

Last year had a far more interesting cast, topics, and interviews. As a daily listener of effectively wild, I have felt many times that the host steals some of the banter topics/insight directly from that show. The show has its moments of being fun and original, but overall it has lost the 5 star rating it has last year.

For the record

Managers should not be newly retired ex-players or freaking pitching coaches. Callaway is in way over his head. Riggleman is the guy. As obvious as the nose on your face. Switch roles. Demote Mickey to pitching coach. Use Diaz for 4 out saves. Cut Cespedes. Cut Lowrie. Yankees will win the World Series somehow and life will be miserable.
