Don’t let perfect be your downfall. Show up bad. Show up messy. Show up as you. Just show up. You don't need to be fancy.
I started with nothing but my phone back in 2014 and within a month I had a New York Times best selling author ask to be a guest on my show. Proves the music the intro, the polish means nothing if there’s nothing but fluff in the middle.
Sometimes showing up is the ONLY insurance you need. You don't have to move mountains ... it doesn't have to be THE BEST every time.
The first person who decided to record into a microphone and figured out how to put out to the world was creating a Wild West. That was not that long ago. About a decade ... at most 15 years ago. Seriously. Your podcast. YOUR way.
When I get behind the microphone I ask myself: “what's the solution that allows me to show up in a way that helps me to cherish my listeners, my clients, make myself a better coach ... and honor this relationship I have with my podcast?”
There's gonna come a time when you're doing your podcast and you’re like, “ugh, the honeymoon is over. It’s just it's not fun, the sex isn't that great anymore and they just don't look so good to me these days.”
Our pods can kinda be the same... but like any relationship it’s about cultivating it, mindfully and intentionally nurturing it, and looking for fun and new ways to spice things up.
You get to create what you want with your podcast, and do it in a way that you want to. Not based on a thing someone said “hey this works. I’ll make it a rule and tell everyone about it because I’m getting 10,000 downloads.”
You can’t take someone’s thought and get the result of 10,000 downloads if you feel like ass every time you record. Downloads mean zero if you have no engagement. Downloads don’t equal money in the bank. Your belief is what puts the money in the bank.
Podcasting can be your muse … an art project ... a side gig, like playing in the sandbox. It's all yours. You get to do whatever the heck you want.
And hey ... if you want some FREE podcast coaching, I'm offering a new way to help and it's seriously exploding. I'm filling spots pretty quickly and I opening up a new round every 2-3 weeks, sooo ... email me at: email@example.com and I’ll let you know if I have spots opening up.
Here's what Jen had to say about her experience: "As someone who just finished 3 weeks of coaching, I can attest that it's worth every minute … and I'll will be a paying customer when I am starting my podcast launch because I now know how Kara coaches. I have already developed a rapport with her and she's helped me start to wrap my head around my ability to do this, and she's pretty badass! Can't recommend it enough!!!
