The Film Girl Film Festival Andrea Thompson Interview
How many movies have women directors? Can you name one outside of Greta Gerwig? Andrea Thompson from https://www.areelofonesown.com/ runs The Film Girl Film Festival held this year from March 23, 24, and 31 at The Music Box Theater in Chicago, IL. It's a celebration of women in cinema who help continue to push the boundaries of art. I spoke with Andrea about the state of female recognition in Hollywood, the diversity The Film Girl Film Festival represents, and what it takes to be a film critic.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Swims With Fun
"Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" surprises with some good laughs, exciting visuals (that can only be enjoyed in 3D), and enough action you can swing a trident at. Maybe a little too much action, but not enough to take away from a fun time.
CONTAINS MILD SPOILERS

Sujewa Ekanayake, Director Of Cosmic Disco Detective Rene Interview
Writer/Director/Star Sujewa Ekanayake comes out with a sequel to his quirky "The Secret Society for Slow Romance" with "Cosmic Disco Detective Rene." The film follows a Detective getting in touch with beings capable of time travel by listening to Disco music. Through his incredible detective skills, Rene is able to communicate with the time-traveling beings and bring a sense of peace to the planet. "Cosmic Disco Detective Rene" is a fun conversation on the things that interest its director more than telling a dramatic story. It's a lighthearted, slow cinema commentary on the state of cinema and love for independent film.
Nothing is meant to be taken seriously, and the firm's dry style allows the viewer to relax among its many long takes between scenes. It's not meant to entice the viewer with high production value, more than it is designed to present a sense of calm. The film stars Rene, played by Ekanayake, who seems content with himself and the universe that he connects to.
Let's see if we connect. My conversation with Sujewa starts right here!

Great stuff.
Hoping they do something live from Ebertfest in April. Or at least recorded live from the festival. Well done, Mike & company.
