'Your gut knows your future': The Microbiome magic explained featuring Sushant Kumar Find Your Ultra

    • Self-Improvement

I don’t know if you also feel it, but there seems to be an air of anxiety around health. People seem to be more worried about their health than ever before.

‘aaj kal kisi ko bhi kuch bhi ho raha hai’, - We hear this phrase way too often these days, especially when we hear the news of someone passing due to a sudden cardiac failure, or stroke, and the scariest of all - Cancer. Young, healthy looking folks with apparently good habits are being diagnosed with conditions that were unheard of. Regular folks who work long hours in stressful jobs, don’t workout, and have more failure than success in all their attempts to eat healthy - invariably suffer from a bunch of metabolic diseases. But even the apparently fit ones, the likes of endurance athletes are also developing cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and in worst of cases collapsing at races. It’s not only shocking but also very sad.

But then bulk of these conditions don’t develop overnight. They are a result of a bunch of things being done wrong over a long period of time and that onset of a disease begins long before it starts screaming for attention.

I’m a great believer in testing and early detection which is why I’ve done two episodes with youwecan foundation on breast cancer, one with Madhur daga on heart health - both emphasising on getting tested instead of living in darkness.

Are there any tests we can get done to know diseases that we’re prone to before they become serious? There is a startup in Gurgaon that collects not blood sample, but your biological samples, runs them through a bunch of algorithms, and comes up with disease prediction upto 10 years in advance. And they also give personalised recommendations on what you need to do in order to alter that destiny.

Welcome to Episode 51. This conversation is with Sushant kumar, who’s the founder and CEO of genefitletics, the startup that I just talked about. This is a super informative conversation that’ll blow your mind about the extent to which your microbiome affects every aspect of your health. We also discussed how it’s not just the gut microbiome but also the oral microbiome that plays a crucial role in keeping us healthy or sick. This episode is a master class in microbiome.

Listen carefully, make notes, do your own research and if you have any questions, feel free to connect with Sushant and know more.
