Today we are joined by both Angela Huston and Ruchika Shiva of the IRC (International Water and Sanitation Centre) based in The Hague 🇳🇱. Angela is a civil engineer and interdisciplinary WASH specialist experienced in drinking water 🚰 systems and sanitation assessments, including fecal 💩 waste mapping and the integration of essential components impacting sustainability. Ruchika holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Delhi and works on water and sanitation projects focussed on urban and rural areas in India and Bangladesh. 🚽🌍

Beautiful!" 🌸🚽😍 This novel idea is the mantra of today's special Pōōdcast guest, Point of Shift founder and CEO Kelsey McWilliams, who founded Point of Shift to address the gap between technologists and consumers in the "circular sanitation" and alternative septic market. Based from beautiful Burlington, Vermont 🌲, Kelsey's career as an environmental engineer, sanitation project manager, and business technology consultant has included designing innovative Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) systems for agriculture and developing tools to help businesses assess the feasibility of circular sanitation technologies.

Today we are graced with the presence of Josephine Daka who serves as Africa Regional Director of Mothers Without Borders. Josephine is helping oversee ZuLoo's new toilet-building and improvement project at the Carol ZuLu Primary School in rural Zambia 🇿🇲  which previously had only 7 working toilets (pit latrines) for over 800 students and teachers -- a toilet-to-person ratio of only one toilet per 114 persons! 💩  ZuLoo is currently helping construct an additional 16 modern latrines to alleviate long lines, diminish health concerns, and provide added privacy for the school's teaching staff, thus helping ensure a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment at the school. 👦🏿👧🏿👦🏿👧🏿🌈
