“If you focus on the things that you love, and you try and achieve, and be the best that you can be, with your goal in mind, you'll always end up there. Things just fall into place to help you get there. And whether that's fate or whether that's due to the attitude in the way that I go about things, I don't really know. But all I know is that if I act in the way that I want to be, then things will happen to help me get there”
Emma Tod is no stranger to goal setting, challenge & adaptation. A world record holding, twice gold medal winning para-athlete and member of Team GB, this mum of two is an absolute powerhouse of mental strength and physical agility. She’s currently training with the GB Para-Cycling development squad, ahead of the world championships in Belgium later this year.
Today’s conversation with Tracey Duke, recorded via zoom, covers:
Visualisation
Adaptation
Flipping the script on the blame culture
Being all in
Celebrating failure
Greatest Impact Activities
Huge thanks to Emma and to all our guests for their time and support of the podcast.

Chris Bentley is a man I once described as being the heart and soul of 2020 Premiership & European Champions; Exeter Chiefs. Whilst he hung up his professional boots a few years ago now, to this day I stand by that belief and see him and his teammates, at the time, as having paved the way for the extraordinary success the team is now seeing across Europe.
A graduate of Liverpool University, you’ll find the influence from his Honours Degree in Philosophy filtering through every area of his life; from his work as a columnist, to his business endeavours right through to his late night, fireside chats with trailblazers from every genre.

Prof. Damian Hughes. Closing The Gap

“Everybody has good days and everybody's going to have bad days. I think high performance is where that gap between your best day and your worst day is narrower than everybody else's. And I think what that then leads to is that you're able to understand what makes you good at what you do. But equally, it internalises it and gives you the locus of control that says you know how to fix it; because you've got self-awareness, remarkably quickly. So that answer of the gap between your best and worst day being narrower anyone else's, contains an awful lot of elements of high performance that I've identified over the course of the interviews” Damian Hughes
My guest today is the international speaker and bestselling author, Prof. Damian Hughes; a renowned expert who combines his practical and academic background within sport, organisational development and change psychology, to help organisations and teams to create a high performing culture. He is the also the co-host of The High Performance Podcast, which dives into the mindset of high-achieving, world class performers.
Damian & his co-host Jake Humphrey have brought some truly phenomenal interviews to the table: Sir Clive Woodward, Jonny Wilkinson, Matthew McConaughey, Sir Ben Ainslie, Michelle Mone and Sir Chris Hoy being just a few.
Our conversation today explores some of those iconic interviews - including that Jonny Wilkinson one - and we discuss the key attributes and non-negotiable habits of high performers across the globe.

Adam Luther. Keeping it Simple
“I just say what I'm thinking and lo & behold, it turns out a lot of people are thinking the same thing. You know. Saying oh, I'm so glad someone said that because I keep seeing all these perfect people telling me to do this and eat this and only eat here. And this bloke, he's all right. He's in good shape. He moves well. And he's just saying, keep it simple. And they're thinking; wonderful. I'm not, I'm not saying keep it simple, easy. There's no such thing as easy, when it comes to taking care of yourself mentally and physically; that's hard. But I'm saying don't worry about all this nonsense that you're being sold. You're being sold stuff, because people are trying to make money. I'm not trying to make, I'm trying to make a living. I'm not trying to make money. I'm trying to help you save money. I'm saying don't do all that. Don't get all that stuff. Just, don't, you know, you don't need all the clothes. You don't need all the gear. You just need to get in gear”

Asha Dahya. The Journey
“being an entrepreneur is not just about the successes, but the failures. And where do you go when you are faced with that failure and how do you adapt and change? That was really important to me, because I think a lot of people, and especially women, we get this imposter syndrome where we look at other women, we see their highlight reel and we're like, oh, my God, she's so amazing! But this didn't happen for me and I failed at that or this didn't quite work out. Or I don't have money. And it's like, well, we're all the same, you know; we all experience these failures and setbacks and we should be more open and vulnerable when it comes to sharing those, because that's what really, truly connects us” Asha Dahya
Hello & welcome back.
Hosted & edited by Tracey Duke, produced by Felix Northover and recorded via Zoom during Covid-19, we ask the question; what does it take to thrive in a world of both challenge & opportunity and, most importantly, how do we build the resilience and leadership skills to get us there?
In Season 3 of the podcast, recorded via Zoom during the Covid 19 pandemic, we’re exploring the psychology behind extreme challenge and asking the question; are we all truly capable of achieving extraordinary feats? And, most importantly; how do we do it?
My guest today is Asha Dahya, the Founder of Girl Talk HQ; an online community which aims to inspire and empower young women with positive, original and shared, content.
A TEDx Speaker and the author of Today's Wonder Women, published earlier this year in March 2020, Asha was born here in the UK, raised in Australia, and now lives in Los Angeles California with her husband and young family.
Asha has spent the last 16 years creating, producing and hosting content for networks such as MTV, MSN.com, Disney, ABC, Nickelodeon, Fox, Nine Network Australia and more.
Passionate about empowering women and girls to raise their voice and share their story with the world, she’s been featured on platforms across Southern California, including NBC California Live and KTLA 5.
Today’s conversation takes a look behind the scenes of her book Today’s Wonder Women, the challenges faced and overcome on her own journey, and explores the changes she’d like to see in her children’s lifetime.
We talk role models, failures and the urgent need to move forward as a united battalion of sexes.
As always, thanks so much for listening; it’s always our intent that our work inspires your next steps and that you take from it that which resonates with you.
We hope to see you back next Friday and, in the meantime, you can order a copy of Asha’s book here
