Are we practicing the potentially powerful gathering of the church in comprehensive biblical ways? Are we leading biblically, leaving things out that we are supposed to be practicing, or doing things that we were never intended to do?

I didn’t grow up in a liturgical church, and even through a MDiv in seminary, I had no idea what the word “liturgy” meant. I wasn’t “liturgical” as I understood liturgical people to be.

But, I did develop a biblically informed idea of what elements should be present when we gather. We should have a clear Biblical answer to what and how and why we do what we do when we gather.

As the world considers re-entry into former things after quarantine, the consequences of our decisions as church leaders will affect the trust our people have in us, the respect the community has for us, and the quality of our gathering together.

What is a House Church? Is it simple nomenclature? Many people are changing the titles of their smaller communities from groups to House Church, without really knowing what a House Church is or means.

In this episode, we dig a little more deeply into what the Scriptures show us about early church biblical communities, and the elements present that make up the construct of a House Church.

In 2009 I began pursuing the formation of  "A Church of House Churches". I couldn't get away from this reality in Scripture, but I couldn't find this exercised anywhere to follow as an example.
