    Let's Talk Vaccine

One Table welcomes Dr. Bryanna Vega, a dear friend and a trusted voice for our questions about Covid and Covid vaccines. She has a PhD in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. With her Biblical world view, passion for Jesus, and love for His church, we couldn’t have a better guest to field our questions and address our concerns. Remember, as you have heard us say many times before, don’t be a single source learner…especially when it comes to Covid. So thank you for adding us as a source of learning for you!

    Hey, Have You Heard?

    Hey, Have You Heard?

Over the past couple years as we’ve navigated division and polarization in our culture, we’ve all no doubt heard statements from people that elicit the initial reaction: “how in the world could you think that?” And if we follow our first impulse, the next step is often to immediately write that person off. But intellectual maturity and coming to the table with people who think wildly different demands that we make an effort to understand that person, where they are coming from, and how they arrived at what they believe. Along the way, this pursuit of different perspectives can also help us navigate our own blind spots and falsities! This episode at the table we reflect on recent statements we’ve heard that elicit the “how in the world could you think that?” response, and wrestle with how we see a path to that perspective.

Faith & Therapy, feat. Kimtrese Slaughter

Faith & Therapy, feat. Kimtrese Slaughter

The past year has been marked by more than a global disease. It has also been filled by the very root meaning of the word: dis-ease, meaning 'a lack of ease' ...aka stress! We've all felt this stress in various forms and responded in various ways. And this begs the question: while our focus is often on disease and the physical side of our health, what about our mental, spiritual, and emotional health? In this episode we come to the table with Kimtrese Slaughter, a psychotherapist and founder of Hummingbird Counseling Services for Women. It's a timely conversation in this and every season as we attempt to broaden our limited perspectives on therapy and our need for it - yes, even as Christians! Pull up a seat and join us at the table!

Reactions: The Verdict, The Holiday, The Table

Reactions: The Verdict, The Holiday, The Table

June was a month that wasn't without its momentous moments. From the Derick Chauvin trial sentencing to the first national celebration of Juneteenth, there were cultural events that provoked responses all around us. In a day and age when it's easy to adopt how we feel from a steady stream of social media and the news, we wanted to step away, hit pause from the hot takes, come together and reflect - how do we actually feel about these events personally? How should we feel about these events? Is there a right way? And when there isn't, we continue in our commitment at the table to be of one heart even when we aren't of one mind, loving deeply even when we disagree.

    CRT

    CRT

Critical Race Theory (CRT) is the controversy of the day it seems among many evangelical Christians.  In this episode, we will discuss our understanding of CRT and share our thoughts on why we believe this secular theory (that is used to understand and explain the dynamics of racism in society) has become so controversial.  Remember, don’t be a single source thinker!  Take time to listen and learn from many points of view.  Scripture will always be our true north.  Scripture is infallible.  But we are all most certainly fallible.  So let’s listen and learn from one another!
