What does doing the “right thing” in sobriety really mean‪?‬ We Do Recover

We, as alcoholics and addicts, even in recovery can often become hyper focused on taking the steps required to stay clean and sober. Inherently a “selfish” choice it is absolutely critical to one’s sobriety. There are however people who are inherently selfish and use the phrase “doing the right thing in sobriety” as a shield to justify bad behavior that is hurtful. Doing the right thing in sobriety means no longer living in a state of denial. It’s making choices in alignment with your personal values and goals.
