World Changers - Expat Podcast Scott Bowers

Today I'm interviewing Janiva and Heather, founders of Heartsong Community of Free Learners, a school they started in 2017 for children from 1st grade through high school, located in Heredia, Costa Rica. Janiva and Heather actually first met 25 years ago when Janiva was a child and Heather a college student. Flash forward 25 years and they met again at a Costa Rica retreat where they discovered that they shared a passion for an alternative form of heartfelt and activity based learning for young children.

Today we're having a conversation with Daniel Rosehill. Daniel is from the town of Cork in Ireland. He made his first visit to Israel at the age of 16 as part of the Birthright Program. About 7 years later he made his expat move and is currently living in Jerusalem. Daniel is a free-lance tech writer and also has a blog and podcast on which he discusses tech issues, as well as political goings on in Israel and the word.

This episode features a conversation with Casey Halloran. Casey is the founder of Costa Rica Vacations, one of Costa Rica's oldest and largest independent travel agencies. Casey discusses how he made his expat move and how he grew and managed a successful business in a foreign country. Casey also offers his perspective on how COVID-19 will affect the tourism industry, as well as Costa Rica in general, for the years to come.

Daniel, along with his wife, Eliesha, are founders of Colombia Eco Travel, a sustainable tour operator located in Manizales in the department of Caldas, Colombia. Daniel was born in California, but his father is from Ecuador and his mother is Colombian. In this episode Daniel talks about his struggles and successes in moving from Portland, Oregon to Colombia 7 years ago, in order to take advantage of what he considered a budding opportunity in Colombia tourism.
