As every new parent knows, sleep can go out the window after the arrival of a newborn.

That was certainly the case for parents Radhika and Bharath Patil, who seeking relief for their own disrupted sleep patterns, put their electronic engineering backgrounds together to create a "smart crib".

"It’s not the amount of work around the baby that tires the parents, it’s the lack of sleep," Radhika Patil, Cradlewise chief executive, told Reuters in an interview.

1. 勤加練習,熟能生巧 - 不斷反覆練習講述特定內容,例如機上廣播,直到爐火純青。透過反覆演練,講述時的語調、
發音、語速等細節都能掌握得宜。適時錄音回放檢視自己的表現,找出需要改進的地方。

2. 模擬臨場應變的能力 - 除了熟記慣例說法,也要練習應對突發狀況。多觀摩前輩如何處理棘手問題,自己模擬練習。
透過事先準備,建立臨場應變的能力,面對突發事件也能泰然以對。

3. 身歷其境沉浸其中 - 透過收聽Podcast、觀賞影集等方式,將自己浸潤在英語環境中。
適度利用逐字稿輔助學習,摘取關鍵字詞反覆練習。但也不要過度依賴文字,要敢於開口練習,讓英語成為生活的一部分,久而久之語感自然就培養出來了。

語言的聽說技巧說穿了就是要多聽多說多練習，但也不要給自己太大壓力，用輕鬆愉悅的心情享受學習的過程。只要持之以恆，英語口說能力一定能穩定提升。

The pipes are laid, the taps installed and the village tank is under construction — all promising signs that, come spring, Girja Ahriwar will get water at her doorstep and finally shed a lifelong burden.

歡迎回到《Teacher's Lounge 幕後教師室》，今天課程開始之前想問問各位，你有在聽國際時事跟讀的時候發現文字和聽到的單字不同的情況嗎？

沒錯！這是有可能發生的喔～除了真的是念錯極少數情況，大多數不一樣的時候，其實是John老師在讀的時候，腦部自動把字替換成另一個更順更自然的字啦。這除了是我們常說的語感外，也可以說是肌肉記憶，某些字接在一起的時候就是比較通順。所以我們才會一再鼓勵大家跟著唸出來，讓自己習慣講英語的感覺。另外，本集阿鍵老師分享了一個關於腔調（accent）的小故事，John老師則是從實際的觀點來鼓勵大家，其實腔調的功能性，比起腔調本身更重要。
