Discovering Self-Worth at The Age Of Sixteen‪!‬ WHAT SHE SAID! A Black Girl Story of Resilience, Power, Grace, and Love.

    • Personal Journals

How are teens experiencing counseling and therapy? In this episode, Vakyah shares the experience that led her to therapy at the age of 16 and how it helped her discover her self-worth after an attempt to self-harm. Vakyah gives her thoughts on the cultural stigma of therapy and being brought up in a religious background. She shares how important it is to balance faith and external help when needed, and what it was like to experience having a Black therapist she felt she could relate with.

For the aspiring hairstylist, Vakyah (a hairstylist herself) shares tips and tools on what it really looks like to grow a business right out of cosmetology school. This episode exemplifies the tender strength of the Black girl and how when we chose to live and grow, there is no force that can stop us!
