Book Review of Remnants of a Separation (Author - Aanchal Malhotra)

Book Review of Remnants of a Separation (Author - Aanchal Malhotra)

In this episode, I talk about the book Remnants of a Separation by Aanchal Malhotra. She has tried to narrate the stories of partition through material memory.

This book has helped me reviving the memories of my grandparents and made them more pristine. It was a touching book, full of personal emotions. I liked it personally because my grandparents also experienced the same but this book made me more conscious about my or "our" past.

The book evoked feelings of guilt & regret in me because I never paid attention to partition tales that my grandfather tried to tell me & willfully ignored them. Now I can feel how horrific they must have had felt while crossing to this side of the border after partition.

And I was teaching partition to Students for 4 years but after reading this book I can proudly say that my lecture on the partition is never going to be the same again. It will be more humanistic, emotional, sentimental.
