In that, another question - especially for action movies: Does escalating the stakes for each film run the risk of the main hitting a 'God Complex', and stakes start to feel less exciting? 

Also, what does it take for world building to rise into mythos?  When even the smallest characters have huge potential to spin-off into stories of their own, and better yet - have fans want that to happen?
