The Life and Times of Jesus with Professor Ernest van Eck
Sesihle Manzini is joined by Professor Ernest van Eck, Professor of New Testament Studies from the University of Pretoria South Africa, to talk about the world in which Jesus lived. How did the social system in which he lived produce the text we read, and how can reading the Bible with this social context in mind compel us to be better readers of, and actors in our own social context today? Join us as we discover how the parables are not stories about God or the character of God, but are symbols of social transformation - a transformed and alternative world which Jesus termed the kingdom of God.
