2. Life is full of stressors

“John was in prison and he heard of the works of Christ. He sent his disciples to ask Jesus, ‘Are you the One, or should we keep looking for someone else?’” Matthew 11:2 & 3

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Jonn 14:27

Give God control over your problems


“cast all of your anxiety on God” 1 Peter 5:7



Pray about everything and give thanks


“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything with thanksgiving.” Philippians 4:6



Think on good things


“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.” Philippians 4:8







3. Jesus is the ONE

“Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen — the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.” Matthew 11:4 & 5



He is the Answer


“Salvation is found in no one else.” Acts 4:12



He is the Miracle worker

1. Develop Christlikeness in me

“Moses was a very meek man. In fact, he was more gentle than anyone else on the face of the earth!” Numbers 12:3

“I am gentle and humble in heart” Matthew 11:29



Aggression – we want our own way.
Arrogance – we think we know best.


“But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.” 1 Timothy 6:11

“You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” 1 Peter 3:4

“Flee from evil and do good” Psalm 37:27






2. Defuse the situation

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words make tempers flare.” Proverbs 15:1

“We respond gently when evil things are said about us.” 1 Corinthians 4:13


“If your boss is angry with you, don’t quit! A quiet, gentle spirit can overcome even great mistakes.” Ecclesiastes 10:4

“if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path.” Galatians 6:1







3. Display Christ to our world

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” 1 Peter 3:15

“Gentle speech breaks down rigid defenses.” Proverbs 25:15b

“A gentle word can get through to the hard headed”

“The more pleasant the words, the more persuasive you are.” Proverbs 16:21

1. God is looking for faithfulness

“For the eyes of the LORD search the whole earth to give strong support to those whose heart is completely His.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

“who can find a faithful man?”  Proverbs 20:6

“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones.” Luke 16:10







2. Faithful to God, not to culture.

“They refuse to serve your gods and do not worship the gold statue you have set up.” Daniel 3:12

“Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods” Daniel 3:14

“what god is there who can deliver you out of my hands?” Dan. 3:15






3. Faithful in the fire

“Certainly, O King.” Daniel 3:24

“I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!” Daniel 3:25

“Therefore we do not lose heart and give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! We concentrate not on what is seen but on what is not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 - 18







4. Faithful after the fire

“Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the midst of the fire.” Daniel 3:26

“Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who put their trust in Him, violating the king’s command, and yielded up their bodies so as not to serve or worship any god except their own God.” Daniel 3:28

“our God whom we serve is able to deliver us… and He will deliver us. But if not, we will not bow” Daniel 3:17 & 18

“Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation or tongue that speaks anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb and their houses reduced to a rubbish heap, inasmuch as there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way.” Daniel 3:29

3.  Sacrifice for others

Be patient when…



You don’t know the outcome.


“The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it” James 5:7

“Be still, and know that I am God” Psalms 46:10






Be patient when…



You are misunderstood or rejected.


“For examples of suffering and patience…look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.” James 5:10






Be patient when…



You don’t understand.


“You have heard of the patient endurance of Job” James 5:11

“When Job’s three friends saw him from a distance, they did not recognize him. Wailing loudly, they tore their robes and threw dust

into the air over their heads to show their grief. Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and nights. No one said a word to

Job, for they saw that his suffering was too great for words.” Job 2:12 & 13







Wait…



Confidently


“But as for me, I will watch confidently for the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.” Micah 7:7

“I will wait until my change comes.” Job 11:14


“God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13







Wait…



Continually

Courageously
