    Nostalgic memories, sobriety, and more

( I had some technical difficulties, so this episode should have been posted two weeks ago 🫠) In this episode of Marvelous Mystonic Muggles we take a trip down memory lane and talk about some favorite holiday memories and toys we got as children.
Holidays can also bring on seasonal depression for many people like ourselves who have major depression disorder so surrounding ourselves with people who love and uplift us is so important. We take a look into sobriety and how that feels and how substance abuse effected us as trauma survivors.

Survivor of DV and special education, teacher Guest Nicole Ward

Survivor of DV and special education, teacher Guest Nicole Ward

Nicole Ward has been a Special education teacher for 17 years with special interest in neurodivergent students. SpEd consultant for families trying to navigate the IEP game for their children for 12 years through Moore Autism Center. She is a Domestic abuse survivor and sexual assault survivor. She was assaulted in the military by a commanding officer, in which the military covered up and paid for her discharge in a lifetime of disability, instead of holding the abuser accountable . Her psychological, emotional, verbal, financial, and legal abuse started after filing for divorce at 7 months pregnant lasted 12 years. Both of her abusers are still walking free to this day . Her story is heartbreaking devastating , but also a story of strength, empowerment and overcoming determination and the will to never give up and that you are your child's biggest, biggest advocate. In this episode we will be Upacking & exposing the family court system and what is hindering survivors in protecting their children, such as judges that are paid and endorsed by a system, with immunity to ignore Victims and enable users.
Nicole and maralen realized through their friendship that they shared a commonality of enduring the same systemic abuse with a same court official. Our hope, in sharing our stories is bringing awareness to corruption within the system, and exposing court officials who should also be held responsible for not protecting victims of domestic violence and their children.
This will be a two-part episode and trust me you don't wanna miss any of it !

No one can tell your story but you

No one can tell your story but you

In this episode of the Marvelous Mystonic Muggles podcast host Maralen and LaTresha dive deeper into Maralen's 12 year domestic violence relationship. Maralen openly talks more about facing her shadows and braving through the wilderness of what it means to truly be vulnerable. Speaking our truth can often be painful and uncomfortable. But it can also be the most powerful form of liberation and freedom to step into the light of one's authentic self to step into consciousness, and embrace the beloved. Speaking our truth, and telling our stories not only helps to free ourselves from the chains of bondage, and being prisoners of our own mind, but it also helps to act as a catalyst and can be a survival guide for others that are along their healing journey. Darkness is some thing that many of us have talk to fear and be afraid of our entire lives, but it is through darkness that we find the light and everything. It is through darkness which all creation is born, whether it's a seed that you plant in the soil a baby and its mothers womb meditation practices. Darkness allows us to embrace our light with open arms and face our shadows, to no longer be afraid of them. but to see the duality and balance, that light and dark create. Together we are stronger, and when we choose to keep our hearts open and have compassion and grace for all the versions of ourselves, that it took to get here, we can show so much gratitude for this human experience and the multitude of emotions that we get to experience during our journey here on earth.

Guest Lindsey Douglas survivor of DV & sexual assault

In this episode 6 we welcome guest Lindsay Douglas & hear her empowering story of courage bravery & overcoming abuse & making one of the hardest choices of her life . " My name is Lindsay Douglas and I’m a 35 neurodivergent non-binary indigenous person living in Oklahoma City. I work doing technical support for a major wireless carrier. In my spare time I love to do acrylic painting, practice sketching, listen to music, cook, practice yoga, study cybersecurity and computer science topics, use cannabis, take hikes with my partner, Steven, and I love a good story either through TV, movies, graphic novels, novels, or podcasts! I’m an outspoken recovering addict and domestic violence survivor. I share my story to help other people who may be caught in the grips of intimate partner violence especially those at higher risk including AFAB people, women, BIPOC, neurodivergent people, and children. My painful experience with coercive control, family scapegoat syndrome, emotional incest, and ultimately domestic violence has led me to make some interesting and deeply meaningful friendships and I’m grateful to have met Maralen and LaTresha on this earthside journey!
