It's a busy, crazy season where we can lose sight of our healthy habits when we need them most. So, I offer a few tips for hanging on to your healthy routine while still enjoying the best parts of the season.

    The mixture of Halloween, Dia De Los Muertos, and All Saints/All Souls Day has me thinking about seasons and God's purpose for endings and beginnings in our lives. This historian in me got curious, so this podcast will give you a bit of background on the Day of the Dead, Halloween, and the Catholic All Saints Day traditions.

    What all of these cultural and religious traditions have in common is the celebration and recognition of death as merely a passage to the next season. It's not the end. God put eternity in our hearts so we would know that all things have a season.

    After dabbling in a new nutrition and fitness plan that is completely out of my comfort zone, I was reminded of a great quote from a fantastic book Wild & Free:

    "The opposite of faith isn't doubt. It's control."

    I'm a control freak and a devoted list-maker. When I step outside of my comfort zone, when God pushes me off my itemized checklist, I have to work to be receptive to His plans.

    Faith and Fitness Ep. 24 - Trust the Process

    What happens when your calling seems to fall apart? Moses was clearly called to speak for the Hebrew people, but his efforts only seemed to make things worse for them at first. He could have given up, refused to follow God's calling for his life, declared it too hard. But he didn't. He trusted God's process. It had to get worse for the Hebrew people before it got better.

    This can and will happen to us. This world is not perfect. It is full of struggle, strife, and other imperfect humans. Sometimes, for a situation to reach the end that God intends, it must get 'worse' first. If we have prayed about it, know that the path is correct, we can't quit! God's process is divine and intentional. Only He can see the big picture and know how it all fits together. Our struggle is part of the process. Trust the process.
