Ep. 194: Paper Mario 1000 Year Door & More!

Ep. 194: Paper Mario 1000 Year Door & More!

With Paper Mario 100 Year Door getting a remaster we have started playing even more games in the Mario RPG genre, like Mario + Luigi Superstar Saga. The rpg Mario games are something special. They show that you can have memorable characters and similar feelings when playing games from completely different genres. Then there were some surprising games that we have recently played as well. Like Pokemon Conquest, a cute Pokemon tactics game that will take 100's of hours to complete as you conquer feudal Japan. Or taking it back to Timesplitters, remember that game? Also, Chris gets deep with an unexpected hit of a game with 1000xResist!

Ep. 193: Summer Spooky Games! Resident Evil!

Ep. 193: Summer Spooky Games! Resident Evil!

For everyone that knows, we are huge fans of spooky games and movies. So it just makes sense that even in summer we are looking for a good thrill. Growing up we both have experience with the Resident Evil franchise, butt for some reason neither of us have actually played the remakes of RE2 or RE3. And man the hype was real! Theses are amazing games, even with a good amount of the game getting cut in RE3. I mean who isn't terrified of being chased constantly and seriously we hate the Lickers! Have to be the one villain design that has stuck with us our whole lives.

Ep. 190: Voice Controlled Games! Oh The Frustrations!

Ep. 190: Voice Controlled Games! Oh The Frustrations!

Voice control has become a common place item in our day to day lives. With things like Alexa and Siri we are using our voice to turn on lights, search the internet, send messages and find out what song that just was. But when it comes to games voice controls have always been tricky if not just down right broken. But thats not without trying. For a small while there voice controlled games were coming out and testing the boundaries of this technology. But it was quickly realized that this may not really have a place in the world of games. From Hey You Pikachu's complete disregard to what you are saying to the existential ramblings of Seaman it just always felt out of place. So, lets dive into this bizarre mechanic that leaves gamers screaming (even more than usual).

    Ep.189: Cultural Representation In Games!

    Ep.189: Cultural Representation In Games!

For years we only had a few viewpoints in the world of gaming when it came to story telling. Year after year we were shown the same viewpoint of WWII through ever evolving graphics. But now we are starting to get new story tellers in games and are finally able to see the world through different lenses. Game like T'challa are giving us a slice of life from New Caledonia, or Saviorless showing us the struggles of game development in Cuba. Or now Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is introducing us to rich lore and heart gripping stories from Abubakar Salim's Kenyan heritage. It is amazing to see these classic genres through different viewpoints.
