The importance of formally recognising Dad's mental health needs lies with the impact it can have in preventing the transgenerational impact of mental ill health. We all have a part to play in transforming the lives of generations to come and we hope by implementing this evidence based pathway that we will contribute a small step towards the big change needed, and especially for the infants we meet in specialist perinatal services.  Supporting Dads in the best way we can in a service that is inclusive will not only strengthen the family support system, but enable their children to develop healthy secure attachments and have the best start in life.
