In it, Michelle shares her process of the self-analysis she went through to get from a place of self-doubt and fear to self-acceptance and "turning down the volume" of thoughts that do not serve her, which sparked Kristen and Bex's conversation about other people's perceptions versus our own, and which observations that come from ourselves and others are worth listening to versus which ones are better to be left behind.

OK, ok. We admit we can't QUITE call this one "super" short, as our lead-ins always promise, but when you have a chapter like Kristy Keus' "You Can Do Hard F***in' Things", sometimes you just gotta let the tape run (well...digital tape? Aaanyway...). Kristy's journey is one of those "not like my life but still relatable and inspiring" reads. So inspiring, in fact, that we get into a LOT of topics, like self-esteem and evolving confidence, positivity, gratitude, and especially, embracing change. Kristen and Bex dive into healthy ways to handle life's what-ifs, not "shoulding all over ourselves", and what "failing up" means. Kristy's chapter is a great example of times when getting a vote of confidence from the right person at the just the right moment can be life-changing.

Ch. 12 - You CAN takes readers through a wide range of emotions as experienced by author Estee Roe throughout her struggle to find her purpose in adulthood as well as to find sure footing as a mother of two. Old fears show up in new situations (as is their wont!). Will Estee find her way to self-actualisation? Kristen and Bex contemplate Estee's search to find validation from within instead of from the external, and discuss their own experiences with similar themes involving changing careers and motherhood. They talk about giving oneself permission to pursue things that don't come ready with a familiar history, or an obvious pathway or trajectory ahead. As Kristen says, we would all do well to, "Own the thing that we like doing, even if it makes other people scoff."

Next up, it's Ch. 10 - Hello Fear! It's Me Again, by author Lisa Poznikoff. In this chapter, Lisa gives her readers a seat in her road-trip-of-self-discovery car, right next to her other passenger, Fear, and lets us witness how she handled the many turns she had to take to find satisfaction with her work life. Kristen and Bex are taken back to similar experiences in their own lives; those moments when you have to make a change and have to have faith that you can roll with it if it turns out it's not meant to be permanent, or it ends up not what you had hoped it would be. Other topics covered in this episode include: having "a Big Think" (esp. on road trips), forlorn Victorian-era child protagonists, the butterfly effect, changing perceptions of what 'stability' is, cooked ham, and valuing personal fulfilment.
