John Oates Past, Present, Future, Live!

    • Music Interviews

Season Two kicks off with an interview and performance by special guest John Oates. John is best known for his legendary career with Daryl Hall and John Oates, and the variety of solo records he’s made since then, which combine to create one of the most successful music careers of our time. Oates’ brand new album “Live in Nashville” is a road trip through his earliest influences in blues and roots music that he’s tapped into since moving to Music City and forming The Good Road Band.

In the interview John describes the influence that Philadelphia music and radio had on him growing up, and how that led to him and Daryl first plugging in together. John also explains how he left music behind and moved to Colorado to start a new chapter, and what led him to Nashville to form a new band and breathe new life into some of America’s classics.

At the end of the episode, you’ll hear John play “Creole Bell/Spike Driver Blues Medley” by Mississippi John Hurt, “Had I Known You Better Then” by Daryl Hall and John Oates, and “Please Send Me Someone to Love” by Percy Mayfield. You can see video of this performances on the show page.
