What happens when you ask a world traveler, a life-coach, a one-woman-show-stopper and (finally) sober woman from the South what she thinks about life? You get “Now That You Ask.” A podcast that looks at topics that range from death to desire, and from wondrous to downright whacky. Akasha Halsey is a woman who after seventy-five years on this planet, is ready to have her say! The podcasts are short (the time it takes to down a cup of coffee) and while they will often make you smile, they will always make you think.

Highfalutin words have the uncanny ability to draw us in. They can serve both to educate and occasionally to obfuscate. My love for reading and sophisticated phrasing takes me through historical romances and even into the realms of vampire fiction when history becomes too bleak. Listen in as I muse on my fascination with words and the impact vocabulary has on personal enrichment.

    149. Horsewomen

Horse people are a community unto their own. My dear friend Nancy, a passionate horsewoman, is the one introduced me to the world of horses and riding about 20 years ago. It's quite remarkable how much there is to learn and master when it comes to riding and Nancy loved every aspect of it. Despite my initial apprehension towards horses due to a childhood incident, I have found joy in witnessing Nancy's daughter, Kate, and her granddaughter, Carter, embrace their love for horses. In fact, it was at Carter's first horse show, where I was moved to tears by the resemblance between Carter and Nancy, and the enduring impact of friendship and shared passion for horses.

Memorials are a beautiful way to honor and remember loved ones. They come in various forms like statues, gardens, or services, each holding a special place in our hearts. Attending a recent memorial service for a dear friend brought unexpected comfort and uplifted my spirits. Witnessing the love and memories shared by family members and friends painted a vivid picture of a life well-lived. Despite the sadness of loss, the celebration of a life filled with love, joy, and meaningful connections left a lasting impression, reminding me of the importance of cherishing memories and the impact we leave on others.
