Conversation with author Tierra Banks on Real Reading Talk!

In this episode I had the absolute pleasure talking to the phenomenal author and founder of Mended Relationships Mrs. Tierra Banks. Our conversations was filled with memories of how her mother didn't play when it came to her children's education. She remembers the times that she had to go look up information in those encyclopedias instead of relying on her mother to give her the answers. We also talked about a topic that is so real and in my opinion not addressed as much as it needs to which is the mother/daughter relationship. This is a subject that is very important to Tierra that she not only wrote a book about it she also started her organization Mended Relationships that deals with this very salient subject matter. Trust and believe this episode is so crucial during these uncertain times so be sure to grab your notebook and pen so that you can get those gems that are being dropped my outstanding guest.

Conversation with child advocate and author Ashley B.

In this episode I had the ultimate pleasure of talking with this dope sista who truly cares about our children. She's a behavior specialist, spiritual God-mother, child advocate and author Miss. Ashley B. She is truly in the business of helping our children navigate through struggles that may have due to their unfortunate trials and traumatic experiences. She just like all of us have experienced things that were challenging and this is why she talked about healing that inner child. Of course through her healing journey she has blessed us with a children's book that is written to engage, entertain and teach our children at the same time. What's extra awesome about her book her daughter was the illustrator as well. I can't give away all of the nuggets in the description now I need you to listen in for yourself.

Make sure to follow Ashley B. and purchase copies of her book by clicking the link below.

Conversation with Author and Creator of All This Math Akil Parker!

I hate math! We ain't going to use this math anyway, so why do we have to learn it?! How many times have we heard these negative statements and more about the dreaded and most needed subject, math. Well Mr. Akil Parker the veteran High school math teacher, author and creator of All This Math is here on the show to eradicate that bad talk that we have around math. He is dropping the jewels and helping us get to the core of where that disdain for math came from that we are plagued with in the Black community. In addition to that, he's giving us the empowerment tools that we need to rid ourselves of that thinking, so that we can learn to embrace math and not run away from it. This is the episode in which you need your notebooks and pens fa real, fa real!!!

Conversation with world traveler and author Taye Uhuru!

Been around the world ya ya yaaa! That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about the conversation I had with brotha Taye Uhuru. It was such an engaging discussion he and I had in which one of the things he casually said is that he's been to 70+ countries! Of course his travels did not start as an adult it all started with his foundation of being raised by his parents in the inner city and suburbs of Cleveland,Ohio and having to move around alot and his mother working for the Greyhound bus station allowed him to get outside of Cleveland at a very early age. These rich experiences, having a close knit family that valued education and love of Black history was the gateway into Taye writing his first book entitled The Afro Set Black Nationalist. What you need to do is make sure you grab your notebooks and pens because Taye is dropping the gems that we need to help us get rid of the fear and develop the mindset that is needed, to help create the culture of literacy that we once had in the Black community.

You can find and follow Taye Uhuru on all of the social media platforms. Also click the link to his website to purchase his book The Afro Set Black Nationalist.

Conversation with author of the book Hidden In Plain Sight Kaleema Overton Ameen!

In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure with talking to North Carolina native Kaleema Overton Ameen on her journey to becoming an author of a book that deals with one of the most controversial topics of our time narcissism. Of course she starts us off with her strong family roots and what led her into becoming a Federal Policy Analyst. Then she gives us ways we can help our young people decide on the career they want by focusing on their strengths. Finally, we spend the remaining part of the show diving into her divorce from a narcissist, which led her into telling her story that started with articles written in the highly acclaimed Muslim Journal and then turning those articles into her phenomenal book Hidden In Plain Sight. This is one of the most empowering episodes that you'll ever hear on Real Reading Talk so please have your notebooks and pens on deck.
