Draw in a breath,
a breath that
opens and enlivens you.
A breath to welcome
this beautiful new day.
PAUSE
Draw in another breath,
and as you do,
feel joy
and a sense of playfulness
rise up in you.
Feel a smile
forming on your face.
PAUSE
Now, open yourself
to the beauty of imagination.
Take a breath,
and visualize a beach,
on a stunning summer day.
PAUSE
Now, using that wonderful imagination,
scan the beach,
and as you do,
notice that you have a shape,
a rounded shape.
You are a brightly colored
beach ball.
PAUSE
Now, breathe,
and see yourself,
rising high in the air,
after a child tosses you
toward the clouds.
The clouds are beautiful
against the turquoise sky.
PAUSE
Now, imagine,
just as you are about to land,
a strong breeze blows,
and sends you skipping
up and down over the shoreline.
PAUSE
After a few moments,
the breeze lifts you
high into the air.
You can see everything.
PAUSE
As the breeze softens,
you float down.
only, instead of landing on
the sand,
you land in the waves.
Waves that gently rock you
to and fro.
Waves that carry you out
to the deep blue sea.
PAUSE
Now, draw in a deep breath,
and allow yourself to enjoy
floating in the water.
You notice the seabirds
that fly by,
wondering what you are.
You notice the fish
that swim around you,
occasionally nudging you
with their snout
out of curiosity.
And you see the dolphins
that bump you with their noses
in loving play.
It feels absolutely wonderful.
Absolutely freeing.
PAUSE
And, as you float with the current,
out farther and farther to sea,
there is no fear,
no sense of being lost,
no worry.
Instead,
as you gaze
at the blue water before you,
there is a sense
that your adventure
is just beginning.
Enjoy it.

Deep deep down,
Under the ocean blue.
Lives a place of unknown beauty,
A world that’s far from view.
LONG PAUSE…
You breathe and descend,
Slowly down below.
Past the rays of light,
There’s no more gentle glow.
LONG PAUSE…
The water surrounds you,
And calms you to your core.
It syncs with your breathing,
And brings you to its floor.
LONG PAUSE…
At first it seems like silence,
Surrounds you on all sides.
But when you listen closer,
You’ll hear all that resides.
LONG PAUSE…
The movement, the waves,
The bubbles that split in halves.
The slow dance of the whales,
Swimming with their calves.
LONG PAUSE…
Surrender now and sink,
And let the water take you.
Let it move you as it sways,
Comforting you like it knew.
LONG PAUSE…
Let yourself go,
And fall into the deep.
Relax into the ocean,
And surrender to sleep.
LONG PAUSE…
Down here you can’t see,
The way you see up there.
Instead you feel and listen,
And become very aware.
LONG PAUSE…
There’s no noise to distract,
There’s only peace right here.
The deep deep ocean,
Leaves you calm and clear.
LONG PAUSE…

The Breeze (Summer Consciousness)

Draw in a deep breath,
and let it circulate through you.
Feel it warming and relaxing you.
PAUSE
Keep breathing
until you feel your whole body
relaxed and comfortable.
PAUSE
Now, imagine, if you can,
a summer breeze blowing
with just a hint of warmth to it.
PAUSE
And, as it blows,
it tickles and kisses your cheeks,
bringing a smile to your face.
PAUSE
Now, take a deep breath,
and imagine,
following along with the breeze
as it flows through the day.
PAUSE
As the breeze blows,
you notice that it
lifts the wings of birds,
carrying them higher.
You watch as the birds fly
past the sun,
chirping in delight.
PAUSE
While traveling alongside the breeze,
you come to a man mowing his yard,
with sweat dripping down his face.
The breeze seems to wind itself up,
and wrap around the man,
giving him a bit of cooling
before blowing on.
PAUSE
As you continue floating
along with the breeze,
you come to two boys
with caps on.
Once again, the breeze
seems to wind up,
and then whoosh!
The caps go flying
End over end,
with the boys
laughing and
chasing after them.
You almost think you hear
the breeze giggling.
PAUSE
After a few moment,
the breeze slows,
and then fades away.
But, as you bring yourself
back to the present,
you express your gratitude
for the fun and freedom
you can have
with a whimsical, breezy disposition.

Relax, and breathe in the day.
Breathe in the warmth,
the beauty,
the surprises
that await you today.
PAUSE
Keep breathing.
In and out.
In and out.
In and out.
PAUSE
Now, visualize, if you can,
standing outside in the daylight
with a pair of dark sunglasses
perched on your nose.
PAUSE
And as you wear the sunglasses,
you notice a feeling of secrecy.
like you can see the world,
but it can’t see you fully.
There’s something fun and mysterious
about wearing your sunglasses.
PAUSE
Now, imagine if you can,
taking a walk
while wearing your sunglasses.
Notice that the sunglasses soothe the world
and change the color of it.
Do you like the color of the world with sunglasses?
PAUSE
And, as you walk,
Notice the people noticing you,
And wondering,
“Who is behind those dark sunglasses?”
Feel a smile forming
because you enjoy being the mystery.
PAUSE
And, as you’re walking,
you notice that you feel protected,
like your sunglasses are a magic shield.
Take a moment to feel gratitude that you’re protected.
PAUSE
Now, take a deep breath,
and imagine being in a place
that you feel comfortable and safe–
so comfortable and safe that
you take off your sunglasses.
How does it feel?
PAUSE
Now, breathe some more.
Breathe and acknowledge that
you have the power to protect yourself.
And, if at any moment, you don’t feel comfortable,
take out those magic sunglasses,
and feel their protection.
They are there for you anytime, any place.

Blade of Grass (Summer Consciousness)

Take a deep breath,
and relax from within.
You’re going on a journey,
with an interesting spin.
PAUSE
So, prepare your mind,
and your body, too.
Relax and open,
through and through.
PAUSE
Now, as you draw in a breath,
imagine someone asks,
“What can you learn
from a blade of grass?”
PAUSE
So, look down below
at your freshly cut lawn,
still covered in dew
from the early dawn.
And before your eyes,
a blade of grass appears,
talking in a voice
that can be heard by your ears.
PAUSE
Now, take another breath,
and let calm be your guide.
Listen to the grass
to hear what’s inside.
PAUSE
“I’m tall and flexible,
and even a little cool,”
says the blade of grass
looking up to you.
PAUSE
“I stand my own ground,
and in that, I take pride.
I know who I am
both out and inside.”
PAUSE
The words of the grass,
though odd,
ring true.
It seems this little plant
has something to say to you.
PAUSE
Says the blade,
“When you go through life,
do you feel good about you?
if not, it’s time for a
Blade of Grass review.”
PAUSE
Then the blade points out
all the other blades of grass,
and says,
“We’re all different.
That is a fact!”
“You may think we look the same
at first glance.
But we’re all individuals
that do our own dance!”
PAUSE
“And one more thing,”
says the Blade looking at you.
“Though we are individuals,
we are connected, too.”
PAUSE
And, like magic,
the blade of grass disappears,
Leaving you with some ideas
that are becoming clear.
You are truly an individual,
with gifts all your own,
and more importantly,
you’re not alone.
For you’ve been reminded
Of your strength in mind, body, and spirit.
It had to come from a blade of grass,
in order for you to understand
and really hear it.
