The series 'Bharat: Kahani' produced by Cine Ink Podcasts begins with three of the greatest Indian short stories; Premchand's 'Boodhi Kaki' and 'Bade Bhai Sahab', and Manto's 'Kali Salwar', read by eminent broadcasters, Achala Sharma and Pervaiz Alam.
The classics are followed by some of India's most celebrated contemporary writers of Hindi and Urdu languages such as Mridula Garg, Nasira Sharma and Chitra Mudgal, all three are Sahitya Academy Award winners. They have recorded their stories in their own voice, exclusively for Cine Ink Podcasts.
Some of the stories have been dramatised by adding sound effects and suitable music. As we go along, new Hindi/Urdu short stories will be added.

Episode 05: Sitam Ke Fankaar by Mridula Garg
One of Hindi's best known novelists and writers, Mridula Garg presents her acclaimed Hindi short story-Sitam Ke Fankaar- सितम के फ़नकार- in her own voice, exclusively, for Cine Ink Podcasts.
She has published Hindi novels and short story collections, including Uske Hisse Ki Dhoop, Vanshaj, Chittacobra, Anitya, Main Aur Main, Kath Gulab and Miljul Mann for which she won her Sahitya Academy award. -
Episode 04: Sarhad Ke Is Paar by Nasira Sharma
Renowned Hindi short story writer and Sahitya Academy Award winner, Nasira Sharma (b: 22 August 1948) presents her much talked about story 'Sarhad Ke Is Paar' (सरहद के इस पार) in her own voice, exclusively, for Cine Ink Podcasts.
Born in the northern city of Allahabad in UP, India, Nasira Sharma has written 12 novels and 9 story collections. She got Sahitya Academy award for her Hindi novel 'Paarijaat'. -
Episode 03: Kali Shalwar by Manto
Cine Ink presents a radio adaptation of ‘Kali Shalwar’ (काली शलवार) by Sa’adat Hasan Manto (1912-1955), widely regarded as one of the greatest short-story writers of the Indian Subcontinent.
Manto faced legal cases for obscenity in his short stories such as Dhuan, Bu, Kali Shalwar, Khol Do, Thanda Gosht and Upar Neeche Darmiyaan.

Episode 02: Bade Bhai Sahab by Premchand
Bade Bhai Sahab (बड़े भाई साहब) is a very special story written by the legendary Munshi Premchand (31 July 1880 – 08 October 1936) with a rare mix of wit, humour and sarcasm.
Premchand's stories are being taught to students at both school and college levels. Arguably, India's greatest novelist of Godaan fame, Premchand penned hugely popular short stories such as Kafan, Do Bailon Ki Katha, Poos Ki Raat, Eidgaah, Thakur Ka Kuan, Boodhi Kaaki, Namak Ka Daroga, Bade Bhai Sahab and Nasha.
