Why are You Hiding Your Dream‪?‬ The Devoted Dreamers Podcast

    • Christianity

Kat Armstrong didn’t set out to become an author. Rather, she wrote her first book in order to steward a message about living in the fullness of the Greatest Commandment: how we, as women, might love the Lord with all of our mind and strength as well as our heart and soul.
I loved the opportunity to chat with Kat once again—a return visit to the show since her first appearance way back in 2016. I’ve been keeping up with her from afar on social media and always feel a connection to her desire to empower women and point them to Jesus.
In this episode, we stray a bit from the questions I ask all my first-time guests. Instead, you’ll hear the tearful story of Kat being confronted by another student in a seminary classroom years ago—an incident that ultimately played a role in the message Kat shares throughout her book.
You’ll also hear about two conversations that challenged Kat about why she was withholding her important message to women and what she did as a result.
Kat doesn’t hold back from sharing about the rejection of her first book proposal, her grief at the loss of her father, and how she has rejected the trap of being focused on numbers of followers, sales, and stats and instead considered how her work might help people.
You’ll learn what it looks like to keep pursuing your dream in the midst of opposition and why it’s so important to do that.
One of my favorite parts of the conversation is Kat’s reminder from Scripture that our adequacy comes from God not from our own competence, training, experience, or efficiency. That is a message I need to hear and remember just about every day of my life.
There’s so much more goodness in this one, which is also the last episode of Seasons Six and of 2019. Give it a listen and be encouraged about why you can’t hide your dream or hold back from the ways God is calling you to love Him and love others.
