We have earned death but Jesus comes into the world as our champion. He goes before us into death to destroy death. He liberates us from the bondage of fear. 

In John 14 we learn that we have two advocates. We have Jesus Christ as our advocate. Jesus speaks for our behalf but the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts. The Spirit directs you to Christ and reminds you of who you are in Christ.
