Healing from an Eating Disorder through Yoga, with Maris Degener The Honest Hour Podcast

In today’s episode I had the honour of speaking with Maris Degener, globally recognized Yogi and mental health crusader from California. Maris became a yoga instructor at the age of 16 after embarking on a lifelong journey of healing and restoration in breath and body movements. I came across Maris’s amazing testimony in the Netflix documentary “I Am Maris” by Laura VanZee Taylor and ro*co films which breaks down the link between yoga, eating disorders, and healing.
Inspired after I saw the documentary myself in 2018, it was a unique and amazing opportunity to speak with Maris about her journey, and the work she is doing in the mental health space, specifically for America’s youth. As someone who suffered from anorexia in my teen years, following a very traumatic childhood, I related deeply to her story as it was told in the documentary.
