Heritage Baptist Church exists by the grace of God and for the glory of God, which is the ultimate purpose of all our activities. We seek to glorify the God of Scripture by promoting His worship, edifying and equipping the saints, evangelizing the nations, planting and strengthening churches, calling other assemblies to biblical faithfulness and purity, encouraging biblical fellowship among believers and ministering to the needy, thus proclaiming and defending God’s perfect law and glorious gospel of grace throughout the world.
The Character of the New Testament Elder
We continue our short series on the New Testament office of Elder. In this sermon we look into the character that an Elder should have.
The Titles of the New Testament Pastor
This Lord’s Day we begin a short series on the New Testament office of Elder. Who are the elders? Why did the Lord Jesus give them to the church? What is the church’s relationship to them? And what are their lives to be like? We will begin to answer these questions as we consider the three titles of elders in the New Testament.
Final Blessings and a Benedictions
After nearly 30 sermons we conclude our journey through 2 Corinthians this Sunday. The long-suffering Apostle Paul concludes his epistle by giving the church six imperatives for unity as well as a glorious trinitarian blessing.
In the penultimate message on 2 Corinthians the Apostle Paul calls on the Corinthians to examine themselves and so vindicate his apostolicity. Paul does not want to visit them in power and discipline but in weakness and joy.
Do Not Confuse Weakness for Powerlessness
Even though Paul boasts in his weakness regarding his sufferings, persecutions and calamities, the Corinthians must not confuse his weakness for powerlessness. In this next section of 2 Corinthians we will see the power of the resurrected Christ in dealing with those who continue in unrepentant sin.
Not your money, but you!
In the next portion of 2 Corinthians the Apostle Paul imitates Christ, and gives us an example, by showing that his desire is for the church and not for their money or what Paul can get from them.
Very engaging topics and sermons. I enjoy the excellent, Christ-exalting preaching and teaching of the Word
