Stress and Dancing with Kristin Sudeikis

Stress and Dancing with Kristin Sudeikis

In today's show, we are talking about how dancing can lift our mood, reduce our stress levels and improve our skin. So whether you are a dancing queen at weddings or if you daily dance around your kitchen, I wanted to explore the benefits of dancing, and I was so excited to speak with Kristin Sudeikis, who is an artistic director, choreographer, master teacher, dancer, producer and the founder of the epic Forward Space Dance Studio in New York City.
Kristin's work has reached thousands around the globe, and she has proved how powerful dance can be, both for the mind, body and skin. The physical movements of dance have been shown to reduce levels of stress, anxiety and depression. Much like aerobic exercise, dance provides relief from stress and tension. So today I am speaking to Kristen about this amazing physical exercise which elevates our dopamine and endorphins to neurotransmitters responsible for feelings of pleasure and happiness, and why we should all be incorporating dance into our schedules every day.

Stress and Cold Showers with Professor Selena Bartlett

Stress and Cold Showers with Professor Selena Bartlett

I am thrilled to be joined today by Professor Selena Bartlett. Professor Bartlett is a world renowned neuroscientist at the Queensland University of Technology. She is a widely published author and a commentator on addiction, obesity and changing mindset. She is also the host of the brilliant Thriving Minds podcast where she looks at neuroplasticity and how we can take advantage of our brilliant biology to thrive in life when we are faced with adversity.
As we all know, stress can affect us both mentally and physically but can especially affect our skin. I was researching the impact of cold water therapy when I stumbled across Professor Bartlett’s article on cold showers and became so inspired to try it. While at first it’s a shock to the system, I felt so empowered once I did it. I wanted to speak to Professor Bartlett today to discuss the benefits cold water exposure can have on both our mind and skin.

Stress and Nature with Florence Williams

Stress and Nature with Florence Williams

Many of us will be feeling challenged and stressed right now, but one of the easiest ways to reduce stress is by getting out into nature. In today’s episode, I am delighted to be talking to Florence Williams, who is a journalist, bestselling author, podcaster and a contributing editor for Outside magazine. Her book, The Nature Fix, was an Audible bestseller and was named a top summer read by JP Morgan.
I’m excited to speak to Florence today about why nature is so important for managing our stress better, what actually happens to our brain when we are outdoors and if there is a connection between spending time in nature and the quality of our skin.

Stress and Seasonal Stress with Dr Gail Saltz

Stress and Seasonal Stress with Dr Gail Saltz

In this episode, we are diving into Dr Gail Saltz's thoughts on how seasonal change affects our stress levels and therefore our skin. Seasonal stress is a topic which is very under-discussed and sometimes we don’t quite understand why it’s happening to us or how it indirectly impacts our skin.

Today, we will be discussing how the change in seasons affects how we feel. I ask Dr Gail whether SAD lights really work, whether underexposure to sunlight makes us less resilient to stress and why spending time outside is good for both our mental health and skin health.

BONUS EPISODE: Skin and Tech with Chris Luckham

Today I am very excited to be talking to Chris Luckham, the education specialist at FOREO, the Swedish brand known for producing powerhouse skincare gadgets, to talk about all things skin and tech. The road towards embracing skin tech has been a rocky one and a lot of us have questioned whether at home devices can really match up to an in real life experience. But steady efforts in the tech arena have now provided tools that are intuitive and weave seamlessly into our lifestyles - all without having to leave our homes.

In this episode, Chris explains what skin care devices will enhance your skincare routine, why the results are much more effective and why it's equally as important for both the mind and skin to slow down and make more time for self-care.
