Kristen Kidd of www.kristenkiddphotography.com is a Philadelphia based family and pet photographer who released a super-profitable coffee table book and shares exactly how you can do the same in this interview.

Like many of us, Kristen was working a 2nd job while making the transition to full-time photography.

In 2017, she stepped away from her social worker job to fully dedicate herself to photography business and her clients.

I was contacted by Kristen's PR agent, Patrick, about setting up this interview after Kristen authored the coffee table book, “A Woman’s Best Friend.”

The book documents stories and shows photos based on one question…

When has your dog been there for you in a way a human could not?

100% of the book's proceeds benefit a local Animal Shelter.

My question to Patrick, when setting up this interview was – has the book helped Kristen's pet photography business?

    He said yes.

We went on to schedule this interview to learn how to set up and run a profitable photography book project.

Our business is really easy because we are an industry that focuses on helping people discover who is important to them and what's important to them, and when we do that and we're able to showcase that in some beautiful artwork for them, it's a no-brainer; people just want it. – Steve Saporito

345: Arek Rainczuk – High end portrait photography via third party marketing

Arek Rainczuk of www.fivecastles.com.au is originally from Poland and is now based in Melbourne Australia. He photographs portraits and runs “high end” studio – Five Castles Portraits where a large number of his leads and clients come via third party marketing.

I'd ben told I need to get Arek onto the podcast for some time but it was his post inside the Third Party Marketing Course group that had me reaching out to set up today's interview.

    He wrote:

I've been doing 3rd party mail outs – where my boutique partners are sending me the details of their most deserving clients on a monthly basis – and the recipients get a gift certificate valued $650 ($200 session fee and $450 print credit).

The client needs to pay $50 holding deposit upon booking and I never had an issue with it.

The $450 print credit is enough to get a 10×15 canvas (and get the $50 deposit refunded) or get two 8x12s ($250 each) using the deposit. But the vast majority uses the (now) $500 print credit as a discount to their massive order.

His business tagline is: “Melbourne's Most Meaningful Photography”

He photographs families, couples, pets and business portraits.

He shoots indoors and outdoors but weekends are reserved for outdoor sessions only.

This interview and Arek's approach to Third Party Marketing will leave you jumping to get something similar set up for your photography business!

344: Katherine Williams – Photography business success after devastating setbacks

Premium Members, click here to access this interview in the premium area.

Katherine Williams of www.tandemphotography.co.nz and www.katherinewilliams.co.nz lost her photography studio, not once but TWICE, following the devastating earthquakes of Christchurch New Zealand in 2011. Today, her portrait and commercial photography businesses are thriving. This interview is a glimpse into what can follow unimaginable setbacks if you have the desire to rebuild and go on.

The seed for this interview was planted by the philanthropic, Karen Alsop last week…

In light of the dreadful bushfires ravaging Australia, a beautiful project has been launched by Karen, in conjunction with the AIPP, the Heart Project, Mark Rossetto Coaching and other generous sponsors.

Project Recapture has been set up so photographers can help support families who have lost their homes and photographs as a result of the fires and the volunteers who have contributed weeks of their lives away from family to fight fires.

Amongst all the loss and devastation, there has to be hope. Hope for photographers in business who have potentially lost equipment, studios, clients and their way to make a living and support their families.

Although it's too soon to talk about regeneration with Aussie fire victims, we can draw parallels with today's guest, Katherine Williams as we hear what she and her family experienced following the earthquakes and how things are now – 9 years on.

    What is your big takeaway?

Following this interview, I’d love to know if you're taking anything away from what Katherine shared. Is there something you heard that excited or motivated you? If so, let me know by leaving your thoughts in the comments below, let me know what your takeaways were, what you plan to implement in your business as a result of what you heard in today's episode.

    iTunes Reviews and Shout-outs

Each week I check for any new iTunes reviews and it's always a buzz to receive these… for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, it's confirmation that I'm on the right track with the interviews and that they really are helping you improve your photography business. That's awesome!

Secondly, iTunes is the biggest search engine when it comes to podcasts and it's your reviews and ratings that help other photographers find PhotoBizX. More listeners mean more interviews and ultimately a better show.

If you have left a review in the past, thank you! If you haven't and you'd like to, head to https://photobizx.com/itunes and you can leave some honest feedback and a rating which will help both me and the show and I'll be sure to thank you on the show and add a link to your website or blog if you let me know the URL of your website and your name.

Alternatively, if you've left a review for PhotoBizX and are looking for more backlinks to help your SEO, leave a review for the new Photography Xperiment Podcast and email me your keywords or keyword phrase and where you'd like me to link to.

Another great way to get a backlink to your site is to send a video testimonial. It doesn't need to be fancy and your phone will be perfect. Click record and tell me how PhotoBizX has made...
