-
- Careers
Tshidi Vilakazi is an admitted legal practitioner currently employed at Bowmans as an Associate in the Competition Law Department. She completed her BA and LLB degrees, both obtained cum laude, at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2016. In addition, Tshidi is currently enrolled for her commercial and business law Masters’ programme at Wits. She commenced her articles at Bowmans in 2017, and six months later, she began her journey as a law clerk at the Constitutional Court of South Africa; clerking for Justices Bess Nkabinde, Jody Kollapen and Patricia Goliath. After a year of clerking, Tshidi recommenced her articles at Bowmans, completing them in January 2020 and was then retained as an associate.
On a personal front, Tshidi began a journey that turned out to be quite interesting in June 2020, amidst a level 5 lock down in South Africa. She started a couples YouTube channel focused primarily on her relationship with her then fiancé. After posting a few videos, she posted a video of her journey to becoming an admitted legal practitioner. That video gained a lot of momentum and shifted the channel into a new direction, one which focused heavily on providing legal content. Almost a year on YouTube, her channel has provided her with the space and opportunity to provide content that is beneficial to high school scholars and university students. Through her channel, she has been able to mentor and provide advice to thousands of law students across the country. She has always believed in the inherent power of mentorship, especially mentoring young women that represent who she is.
Tshidi is also an Advisory Board Member for a recently established Non-Profit Organisation, “Beloved Marang” which seeks to work with and empower youth in the foster care system.
