S1E3, Part 1: Kevin Impellizeri, Ph.D., talks video game history, Megacolons and Megadongs!

Charley and Brandy discuss video games, Megacolons, and (mega?)dongs named Jerry with newly anointed DOCTOR Kevin Impellizeri in the third installment of Scholars and Shots. Dr. Kevin is a video game historian, teacher, and museum professional based in Philadelphia, where he promises to take us on a tour into the depths of the Mutter Museum if we visit, either before or after an unhealthy number of shots. We learned so much from him we had to split the episode in two - twice the fun and lovable nonsense!
About our Drunk Scholar: Kevin Impellizeri, PhD, is a video game historian, teacher, and museum professional based in the Philadelphia area. His dissertation  examined the evolution of meaning and user identity for home video games  in America, 1972-1994. He has also developed educational programming  for The National Constitution Center, Eastern State Penitentiary  Historic Site, Fort Mifflin on the Delaware, and The Mütter Museum of  The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, and he currently oversees  after-school and summer youth programming at The College of Physicians  of Philadelphia. You can follow him on Twitter (@KDImpellizeri) and at kevinimpellizeri.wordpress.com. Learn more about the Mütter Museum by visiting their website: muttermuseum.org.

S1E2: Sir Casey Delehanty, PhD, talks torture in Zootopia, being an elder millennial & baking deer!

OUR DRUNKEST EPISODE YET! On our second episode of Scholars & Shots, we get tipsy (well, Charley gets straight-up sloshed) with Dr. Casey Delehanty! We talk about how he became a knight of the disputed nation-state of Sealand, and Charley punctuates Sir Casey's drunk lecture on torture in Zootopia with a few well-placed tumbles out of her chair. Meanwhile, Brandy kindly keeps the show (mostly) on-course, because she has the patience of a freaking saint.
About our Drunk Scholar: Dr. Delehanty is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Gardner-Webb University. His research seeks to understand the limits of the domestic democratic peace, studying various forms of repression in developed states. Previous studies have analyzed police militarization in the United States as well as forced migration in Colombia, and his work has been featured in The Washington Post, The Economist, and The Atlantic, among others.
