    BODY: What the Boys Think

    BODY: What the Boys Think

In this episode, I break down the 35(!) most common symptoms of peri-menopause and menopause with my husband of 20 years - Dave Nuku. Our adventure started just a few months after we were married when we moved to Hong Kong and then on to Malaysia. Dave developed the personal training business for Fitness First Asia for 11 years and then founded FIRE Fitness, Malaysia’s first boutique fitness brand.
Dave is of Ngai Te Rangi descent and is an amazing father to our two children, Jazz (16 years) and Sol (8 years).
In celebration of 10 episodes of Sexy Ageing, I thought it might be a good idea to seek a male perspective on peri-menopause and how much my husband may have been impacted by my experience. Dave’s insights into my journey with menopause and our discussion on midlife is awesome. I think I’ll keep him!

MIND: Being a Female Leader in your 50's

MIND: Being a Female Leader in your 50's

What a pleasure it was to interview my sister from another mister! Stacey (rhymes with Tracy!) is the Founder-CEO for SoulBody Fitness in the USA - a brand of choreographed barre workouts. While Stacey and I have fitness, running and barre workouts in common, we also have a similar ethos and belief that being women in our 50's in the fitness industry, that our role is to share and grow others without ego and to be better than ourselves.

SoulBody Fitness is a global company that develops much more than barre workouts. There are  4 programs in the mind-body space for Group Fitness - 2 barre programs, HIIT and Yoga Sculpt.

Stacey Seward Vandiver has been teaching group classes for over 14 years.

    SOUL: Magic is all around!

Romany is a magic maker, both through illusions and by manifesting her dreams. A truly inspirational woman who shares her incredible story of courage, determination and resilience. Romany shares in her book of her struggles with an eating disorder and how she overcame this to follow her dreams of becoming a magician and ultimately the first and only woman to ever win the World Magic Awards in Las Vegas.

Pre-covid, Romany was touring the world performing her one woman magic show on luxury cruise ships and international shows.

In 2018, she wrote “Spun Into Gold - The Secret Life of a Female Magician” which gives an honest account of her journey to overcome her eating disorder and mental health issues and ultimately breaking the glass ceiling of a predominantly male dominated industry.

Romany also shares her experiences with peri-menopause and how she was able to understand her symptoms through MyMenopauseTransformation Program with Dr Wendy Sweet from Episodes 1 and 2 of the podcast.

    SOUL: Stay True to YOU

    SOUL: Stay True to YOU

Whenever we get together, there is laughter, there are tears and there is genuine soulful conversation. Ning Baizura is probably the most famous singer in Malaysia. We met on the school playground and became friends because our boys were friends.

Ning has recorded under the International Music Labels - Sony, BMG, AMS Records Japan and Warner Music Group. She has recorded 15 Albums and has extended her talents into acting, fashion and fragrance. To hear her sing live is to witness true mastery.

Ning brings so much joy and emotion to her singing and to her life. From a young 9 year old finding her voice, through to her first album at 16 and even till today, Ning continues to live her authentic self and truly celebrates women. Ning and I have often spoken of the highs and lows of ageing and for the both of us, we definitely see more upsides.

For all her success and accolades, Ning is grounded in her family and her faith. I can’t say enough about this amazing woman so I recommend you do what I did and “google” her.

I hope you find as much inspiration in this SOUL episode as I do everytime I speak with Ning.

    BODY: Inflammation vs Peri-Menopause

    BODY: Inflammation vs Peri-Menopause

Tia Minnoch is my amazing sister who has also been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease - lupus. At the time of her diagnosis in her early 20’s, there was very little known about lupus. Being in the medical and health profession, Tia has had the fortune of education and support to help her understand how to manage and live with lupus. As Tia enters her menopausal years, she has noticed some changes and gives voice to how hormonal changes and lupus symptoms co-exist, as well as her view on how peri-menopause and inflammatory disorders have similarities.

Tia has been a registered nurse for 25 years, specialising in adolescent health. She also holds a post graduate diploma in Pacific Health and qualifications in child and adolescent psychology. She is currently completing her Master Research.

AND, she is a mum to two boys, a professional singer and coach, independent marriage celebrant and a black belt in karate - not to be messed with!

In my opinion, Tia is the most Emotionally Intelligent person I have ever spent time with. I hope you are as inspired and educated by Tia as I am whenever we get to catch up.
