Every Monday South Africa’s favourite stockbroker, David Shapiro from Sasfin Securities guides us through the market maelstrom in his own uniquely accessible manner. David is probably the most experienced financial services professional in the country, having cut his teeth on the floor of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on Diagonal Street and now decades later is still talking sense and proving there is no substitute for experience.

Tiger Brands analysis shows racial bias
I found it fascinating that in 2020 Mr Williams still thought it prudent to centre the poor Tiger Brands performance around a discussion on Peter Matlare. The current CEO Noel Doyle was directly implicated in their price collusion case and their previous CEO Lawrence McDougall was proven to be inept in the way he dealt with the listeriosis crisis.
I wonder if in the same vain you will blame Mark Lamberti for Massmart’s current woes 3 CEOs later?
As a young black professional within the consumer goods industry, it is such throwaway lazy commentary that contributes negatively to the overall perception of us in the industry. My feeling while listening to this was that there was an unintentional racial bias in your comments. I may be completely mistaken, however, please take the feedback on board in terms of how I perceived the whole discussion.
