130 — Mental Health vs. Spiritual Warfare with Dr. Natalie Atwell

Dr. Natalie Atwell joins the show to discuss mental illness vs. spiritual warfare. She shares the journey the Lord has led her on in being able to access if someone is truly struggling with mental illness or if something spiritual is going on. Dr. Atwell has been in the counseling field since 2005 after receiving her Master’s Degree in Education and Counseling from the Liberty University. She also earned her Doctorate of Education in Family Care and Counseling at Liberty University. Book Intro: So many of us are disturbed by the craziness of the world today and life in general, unable to find peace in the midst of it all. Dr. Natalie Atwell believes it is, if we put on the right pair of shoes each day, the shoes of peace. In I Can Do Anything in the Right Pair of Shoes, Dr. Atwell uses her love of shoes to share her story of how to walk a life of peace. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, she uses the armor of God metaphor from Ephesians 6, showing us how when we put on the shoes of peace, it helps us overcome our past, present, and future attacks of the enemy, which ultimately leads to a life of peace.

128 — Part 17 Walking Through the Bible: 1 Kings

We are back with part 17 of the Walking Through the Bible Series! Today is all about 1 Kings.

The book of 1 Kings continues the narrative started in Samuel, tracing the rise and fall of King Solomon and the division of the kingdom into Israel and Judah. It covers a period of more than 400 years and was likely written between 560 and 540 BC. The purpose of the book is to record the history of the kings of Israel and Judah and to provide lessons from their successes and failures. Key stories which we chat about include Solomon's wisdom, the building of the temple, the prophet Elijah, and the reigns of various kings. The book concludes with the downfall of King Ahab and the split of the nation into two kingdoms.

127 — Overlooked: God Has a Purpose For Your Life with Bridgette Cameron Ridenour

Today we welcome Bridgette Cameron Ridenour (sister to Kirk Cameron and Candace Cameron Bure) to the show. Bridgette shares her message of inexhaustible hope, fulfillment, and how to find a deeper joy throughout life's journey. She shares the truth of how we are never overlooked by our Creator.

Rewind back a decade or two and you might have seen Bridgette Cameron Ridenour's siblings grace the cover of those oh-so-familiar teen magazines. Sister to Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains) and Candace Cameron Bure (Full/Fuller House), Bridgette knew all too well what it was like to be overlooked in the entertainment industry.

Even though Bridgette had a successful career as a stand-in for over 25 years working with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars on television shows like Full House and Home Improvement, she still couldn’t help but feel God had passed her up. After a terrifying, but life-changing moment with her family, Bridgette found her true purpose and has put it beautifully into words through story in her book, Overlooked.
