From Hollywood, film composer and producer Brian Ralston hosts various special guests in conversation on the media music business and issues relevant to film, television and video game composers, orchestrators and musicians
SCOREcast 0067: Carl Thiel
Hot off the hit animated show "Seis Manos", composer Carl Thiel spends time with Brian talking about the process of creating a ground-breaking international score for Netflix's newest ambitious animated adventure. Carl recalls the process of getting the gig, recording an orchestra in Budapest, and combining 70's grindhouse, blaxploitation elements, drug cartel sub-themes, and ancient Mexican lore into a colorful caldron of musical flavors, and discusses his perspective on scoring for "binge watching" audiences versus serialized television or standalone films.
Brian also answers a listener question about composer unionization and explains the history of why there is no collective bargaining representation for composers in Hollywood.
SCOREcast 0066: NAMM 2019 with Damon Tedesco
Veteran Hollywood scoring mixer Damon Tedesco joins Brian to discuss the things they both found interesting at this year's NAMM Show, but not before running down such hot-button issues as Netflix gunning for theatrical positioning, "Captain Marvel" composer Pinar Toprak successfully conquering the box office, and how the Oscar telecast fared without a host.
Also, the 13th Annual SCOREcast Winter NAMM Meetup was a raging success, with more than 150 SCOREcasters in attendance and over $5,000 of software prizes given away. We'd like to thank our faithful friends at Soundiron and to Eduardo Tarilonte for always being there for SCOREcasters and supporting them with amazing products. Also, a special thanks to new sponsors MOTU, Cinesamples, Avid, Chocolate Audio, and Hollywood Scoring for sponsoring the event and supporting our community!

SCOREcast 0063: The Idiot's Guide to Working for Free
As Deane winds down his tenure as co-host with Brian (two episodes left!), the boys revisit the long-debated controversy of composers working for free and the recent trend of composers paying out of their own pocket to score films just to build their professional portfolios. They also cover the recent repeal of net neutrality in America and give their initial thoughts on the newest entry into the Star Wars pantheon, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, scored by the legendary John Williams.

SCOREcast 0062: Sexual Abuse in Film Music
Finally back at home in Bali after being stranded for five days in Singapore because of the Mt. Agung volcanic eruption, Deane rejoins Brian for a serious and candid discussion on the Hollywood sexual abuse scandal with Elisa C. Rice, scoring director at Hollywood Scoring and co-host of the "Cued Up" podcast.
