Unleashing empathy and healing by connecting with your unique magic

Unleashing empathy and healing by connecting with your unique magic

Have you ever found yourself secretly charmed by the little things in life—those moments that WOW you, or the tiny things that can sometimes seem like nothing special?

The silly, goofy things that delight YOU are the healing the world needs — and the key to understanding yourself and your unique contributions to the world!

In this Thursday Thread episode, I pull a thread from Tuesday’s episode featuring Nirjary Desai, who has taken the brave step to come back home to herself, and reprioritize her entrepreneurial path.

This episode is an invitation to do what Nirjary and I have done, and uncover the 'unicorn magic' within yourself and learn to harness it as a force of light in a world that often feels too dark.

I take you through my own journey, and how the experiences I’ve had over the last few years have shown me the importance of celebrating the things that make us different and recognize that they are not just quirks, but actual pathways to a more empathetic and united existence.

So come along, and let's spread a little unicorn magic together.

As always on Thursdays, we end the episode with a moment to breathe together.

Crafting a harmonious life at the intersection of genuine connection, entrepreneurship, and inclusive practices - with Nirjary Desai

Crafting a harmonious life at the intersection of genuine connection, entrepreneurship, and inclusive practices - with Nirjary Desai

Have you ever been struck by the profound power of a sincere "How are you?"

Nirjary Desai, an exceptional event curator for celebrities and brands, joins us to unravel the art of genuine connection and its transformative impact on entrepreneurship and life.

Our heartfelt conversation kicks off with a straight-up, down-to-Earth, vulnerable share from Nirjary about where she is REALLY at with her business right now, discussing how stepping into motherhood has shifted her business and her priorities.

We dig into what it truly means to be a female entrepreneur today, and where we set these "ideal" expectations on ourselves as business owners.

We shed light on the often neglected truth that sometimes, the strength to surge ahead in business and personal growth comes from the courage to step back and care for ourselves.

We discuss the art pf balancing family and business, emphasizing the pursuit of joy over perfection and the vital role of support networks, including therapy. Our dialogue touches on how cultural influences can unexpectedly shape fulfilling career paths, providing a unique perspective for anyone seeking to navigate the complex intersection of personal satisfaction and professional success.

Your perfect day: an exercise to turn your dreams into reality

Your perfect day: an exercise to turn your dreams into reality

Do you love dreaming big, but then feel like those dreams have to be tucked away for "someday"? Today, I invite you to pull out your dream canvas and splash it with the vibrant colors of the present.

In this Thursday Thread, we call back to the previous episode with Molly Ruland, who brought her island dreams to life by moving to Costa Rica. Instead of waiting until retirement, Molly took the leap and island hopped now (doubling her business revenue in the process!)

What Molly was capable of achieving can easily feel so far away for most of us – but the truth is that it's often only a few decisions away. One of the first decisions we need to make for our dreams is to choose to feel our dreams as if they have already happened.

In this short episode, I walk you through an exercise to do exactly this. Happy dreaming, unicorn! It's time to welcome all your wildest wishes into your reality.

Chasing dreams and building success – with Molly Ruland

Chasing dreams and building success – with Molly Ruland

Imagine the audacity of dreaming up your perfect day – and then actually chasing it down. That's exactly what Molly Ruland did, and she's on the podcast today to inspire you to do the same.

Three years ago, Molly decided she didn't need to wait for retirement to live her dream life. Having taken her business online during the pandemic, there was nothing holding her back, so she sold her belongings and bought a house in Costa Rica.

In this conversation, we talk about what it takes to make bold decisions, in our lives – and also in our businesses. Molly is a seasoned business owner who road the waves of the pandemic and came out surfing. For the business owner who could use some real talk, this episode shares her genuine perspective on what a business owner needs to be successful in today's world.

We talk about the emotional roller coaster that comes along with bold moves, and the how lonely it can feel sometimes as an entrepreneur. Molly shares her strategies for growth that go beyond the conventional, and the art of transforming social media connections into actual deals and leveraging extensive networks to propel your brand forward.

You are not alone (but it sure can feel like it sometimes)

You are not alone (but it sure can feel like it sometimes)

One of the things I'm personally passionate about is removing the stigma, confusion, and even shame many of us experience around the ages of 35-50.

Midlife crisis, midlife transition, and all the glories brought on by perimenopause – whatever you want to call it, this is real sh*t we go through.

In today's Thursday Thread episode, I give my take on unveiling midlife transformations for exactly what they are: normal.

This episode isn't just about navigating transitions; it's about normalizing and unshaming this experience we are all having in our 40s and 50s and  finding connection and community through our common experiences. So take this journey with me, feel the solidarity in our shared stories, and perhaps, pass this conversation along to someone who, like you, is seeking companionship on this midlife adventure.

As we always do on Thursdays, I close the episode with a meditative breathwork exercise that bridges the gap between us, even as we listen from different corners of the world. Join me in reflecting on the invisible threads that knit our lives together, emphasizing the magic in each present moment.

*This episode (and many upcoming episodes) reflects some audio grumbles from a time period when we were experiencing poor wifi connection in our area of Portland.

Turning 40 and navigating the "ick" of the midlife crisis - with Stephanie McLaughlin

Turning 40 and navigating the "ick" of the midlife crisis - with Stephanie McLaughlin

Is the midlife crisis a real thing? I've been curious about this for a while.

I mean, there are times I'm actually pretty thrilled to be in my 40s. There are times I get a little freaked out about it.

Stephanie McLaughlin is on the podcast this week to talk about that thing that happens to us around "midlife."

When she turned 40, Stephanie decided to have 40 drinks with 40 friends from her past. The project changed her life.

In our episode, Stephanie shares how this started the '40 Drinks Project,' a movement that challenges the stigma around the midlife crisis narrative. Stephanie shares the unexpected wisdom she uncovered via the laughter and reminiscence she shared with long-lost friends.

One of the things Stephanie uncovered in this project is how her childhood memories were the secret ingredients to understanding her present self. She is now on a mission to wash away the "ick" around the idea of midlife, and to show people how it's actually a chance to turn back toward the things that brought you joy as a child.
    Meet Stephanie McLaughlin:
Bringing a background in journalism to marketing, Stephanie McLaughlin merges creativity with clarity for clients of her marketing agency, Savoir Faire Marketing/Communications. Her superpower is uncovering a company’s “soul” and then developing stories about that soul that resonate with the audiences most responsible for the company’s success. She strives to help you Make Your Marketing Matter.
In 2022 Stephanie launched The Forty Drinks Podcast, a passion project based on a life changing experience she had around turning 40. Each week she has conversations with guests about transformation and reinvention that take place around that milestone birthday.
