Devotion: Old Testament Gem- Consider the Scary Alternative!

Devotion: Old Testament Gem- Consider the Scary Alternative!

Have you ever considered the alternative of the prayer, “thy will be done”?  C.S. Lewis had a quote that said, “There are two types of people in the world, those who say “thy will be done Lord” and then there are people to whom God will say “thy will be done”.”

What it means is there are christians who trust Jesus and His will for their life.  Then there’s people who continue to ignore God and want their way and God says, “fine sinner, have it your way. Your will be done.”   To live as though God is not a factor and blame Him for all the wrong in the world would be a cold life leading to separation from Him for eternity.

Today we’ll look at Amos 8:11-12 when the people were shutting down God’s word. May you find peace in trusting God’s plan for you and letting His will be done!

    God bless your time worship!

Devotion: Old Testament Gem- Restore, Repair, Rebuild!

Devotion: Old Testament Gem- Restore, Repair, Rebuild!

Last week a storm came through the Houston area and small tornadoes popped up all over.  Lots of wind blew through and it unexpectedly left a lot of damage!

This storm caused fences, building, and trampolines to be damaged. Just like damage after a storm, we are broken and left in ruins by sin.  Today we're going to look at Amos 9:11 and a promise that all hope is not lost.

Devotion: Old Testament Gem- God Wants Everyone Saved!

Devotion: Old Testament Gem- God Wants Everyone Saved!

Have you ever thought about the difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament?

Some people have a false impression that the New Testament God is the one they want to spend time with, they see Him as a gentle and loving God.  They think the God of the Old Testament is impatient and brings judgement.

The truth is that God doesn’t change.  He is both law and gospel, centering in both the Old Testament and New Testament.  Today we’ll look at the book of Joel where we see just that…

Sermon: 5.12.24- Ascension Means It's His Kingdom, Not Yours!

Sermon: 5.12.24- Ascension Means It's His Kingdom, Not Yours!

Before Jesus ascended into Heaven he proclaimed that His work, providing salvation for sinners, was FINISHED!
We want to spread that good news and help people have a taste of the peace you receive when you set your heart on things above instead of worldly things here on Earth!  We hold on to the fact that life is all about His kingdom, not ours!  It's the best possible way to live!
Jesus, come and dwell in my heart.  It's all about YOUR Kingdom, not mine!
God bless your time in the Word!

    Devotion: Easter People Embrace Repentance!

    Devotion: Easter People Embrace Repentance!

    What is repentance?

Repentance is a u-turn, a change of heart.  You admit your sin openly without cutting corners or blaming.
You are sorry, but instead of trying to be your own savior, you trust in Jesus!  You believe you’re saved by His finish work and try to change your sinful ways.

Listen to these verses from Hosea 13:14 as we hear the prophet Hosea talking to the people of Isreal.

Sermon: What a Friend We Have in Jesus!

Sermon: What a Friend We Have in Jesus!

What a friend we have in Jesus!

The definition of a friend could be many different things but one is that a friend is someone who walks in, when everyone else walks out.

The night before Jesus died, Jesus said many comforting things to His disciples.  He talked about His friendship with them.  Join us as we look at John 15:13-16 and find incredible peace in how Jesus is the BEST friend we could ever have.  A friendship that’s not contingent on how we treat Him or what mood He might be in.  A friendship that is always there, arms wide open with love, no matter what!
