18 episodes

I'm Justine, a cultural storyteller through food, a design whisperer, and a witch. This podcast, this season is a platform to re-encounter the souls that have made an imprint in my life. I'm going to intro every episode with my favorite story of this person and then re-encounter them in each episode. I have no theme, yet I hold the intention that magic will flow in our rekindling conversations. There are no expectations, no script, no planned takeaways – simply a conversation between old souls who collided in this lifetime and have chosen to re-collide now. May you enjoy the collision :)

Introduction to Voice Nodes Season 2

Voice Nodes is officially coming back! For what some may say it's the third season but I see it as a 2.0 – so let's just run with that! Welcome to Season 2!

This time around I am very keen to share the people who I have collided with that feel memorable. Having just returned from a whirlwind trip in Europe I have several guests I'm excited for you to meet.

This brief episode is an intro to my next chapter as a podcast host.

    17. A Transgendered God In the Christian Church?!

    17. A Transgendered God In the Christian Church?!

DISCLAIMER: This is entirely a working theory. I am a work in progress in my education of unlearning gender terms. If I have misstepped, do tell me.

Today's episode is a short and sweet musing about how the Christian faith unknowingly prescribes to a transitioned God. As the creator of all life, we would assume God has female reproductive anatomy – a uterus – or that which houses and grows all human life. Yet, devoted followers of Christianity refer to God ONLY as he/him.

I very much believe in a non-binary God, but since dogmatic faiths tend to think in black and white, the logic leads one to believe that God is indeed a female. But identifies as a man?! Ironic, since so much transphobia comes from the Christian church.

    16. A Season of Confronting My BDSM Beliefs

    16. A Season of Confronting My BDSM Beliefs

This episode has been knocking at the door of my psyche for the past week – ever since I finished Paul Coelho's Eleven Minutes and began unpacking my thoughts on the subject matter. This season in my life is not one of experience but one of confronting my own thoughts on BDSM.

I used to pride myself on being the type of lover who would never say no to trying new things, but rather reply with "not yet". In this past month, I have been confronting that belief, as I have unintentionally entered a season of BDSM. It started with a Hinge profile I found increasingly more triggering and became a full-fledged season when the show I was watching, Normal People, took a dark turn. Both of these touchpoints presented me with the opportunity to explore my discomfort around women finding pleasure in humiliation and/or submission to a male partner.

In this episode, I discuss how BDSM is a common kink in the fitness industry, why I take issue with straight white men only wanting to be the Dom, and how sex is the most vulnerable, ever-changing, and present thing that we do.

I am a firm believer that the dynamics in any sexual encounter should be a reflection of how we feel in that moment, rather than a definitive role one must prescribe to. Predetermined roles are counter-intuitive and the opposite of the nautral world. Have a listen. Explore these themes with your friends and partner, and most of all reflect on your own beliefs.

My BDSM touchpoints and where you can find them:

Normal People is a book by Sally Rooney that was turned into a television series by the BBC. It is currently on Amazon Prime here.
    Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho

Relationship experts (on Instagram) speaking about trauma and how it shows up in our relationships:

Dr. Nicole LePera (Psychologist) as @the.holistic.psychologist
Esther Perel (Psychotherapist x NYT Bestselling Author) as @estherperelofficial
Mark Groves (Human Connection Specialist) as @createthelove

Guiding tarot: The Hanged One - left. We are ambivalent about slowing down or giving in to our inner world.

    15. How My Intuition Works

    15. How My Intuition Works

    Happy Sunday,

I knew I had to record this episode because my inner knowing was so clear and immediate that someone needs to hear this – or maybe I just needed to hear myself. I talk about the popularity of Clairvoyance (see images) and Clairaudience (hearing voices) as the expectation and default for being intuitive, and how I receive messages differently. I give the example of how I chose the wrong colour of journal for my business and that my inner knowing was relentless that it had to be green instead of periwinkle. I receive information from my intuition through my "knowing" which is a psychic gift known as Claircognizance. As promised here are the most commonly known intuitive gifts:

    Clairvoyance (see images)
    Clairaudience (hearing voices)
    Clairsentience (recognizing feelings)
    Clairolfaction (psychic smells)
    Clairgustance (psychic tasting)
    Claircognizance (knowing)

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Please note this list is not definitive. There are many more ways we can connect with our inner guide and as humans, we are limited in our comprehension and language. Additionally, I believe what I provided is a working list so please let me know of gifts I have missed.

I also mention my lovely friend Ellen and a conversation she had with her co-host about our desire to receive information via our eyes and ears. I don't know the exact podcast but you can listen to any/all of their episodes here. I HIGHLY recommend giving Woo Knew a listen.

Lastly, I finished recording at 11:11 AM, and (imo) that's a sign!!!

Guiding tarot: Motherpeace's 10 of Cups reversed. There is a collective connection to the source and our individual emotions. A rejoice is happening, that may be overzealous and happening too quickly.

    14. Workplace Bullsh*t

    14. Workplace Bullsh*t

I CAN'T STAND IT! Super fired up today, probably related to eclipse season and all other fuckery in the cosmos.

Synopsis: I recently finished a few shifts on a film set where I was IMMEDIATELY reminded how some industries/companies have leaders who avoid taking personal responsibility and use performance reviews to hide their own inadequacies.

In this share, I go to town on how "underperformance" isn't real, and how it is used by managers who have not properly trained or clearly communicated their expectations. I also break down the responsibilities the employee has when they have been assessed as "unfit for the role" – and provide a basic strategy for communicating their needs.

Nothing works me up more than unfairly treated employees in the workplace. So the next time you hear: "Prove Yourself" or "Do You Know Who You Are Talking To?" please refer to this podcast, reach out to me, and know that I am aggroed too. I have a zero-tolerance policy for this archaic, abuse of power, delusion many workplaces are still enforcing. F*ck that shit - you deserve better. Everyone does!

Guiding Tarot: Motherpeace's World (XXI) up and slight right. Description: We are breaking free into a new cycle. The old is completed and many new things are now possible since she has done her work. She wants to be done with the past and move on to the new life (heck yes I do!)

    13. The Power of a Purge

    13. The Power of a Purge

This was my third go at recording this message and in it, you'll hear why.

Recently I have questioned my process as a creator because I so lovingly believe(d) in the power of just getting it out there that I rarely took the time to finesse or value what it was that I created. I discovered that my worth is impacted by this belief and that in order to create something with value and true impact, I need to take myself and what I create seriously. I now see that I was devaluing my words, my time, my talent, and my energy but half-assing it. My commitment going forward is to invest in myself (hair and possibly make-up) and in this podcast, by recording it with intention and clarity. I am now creating with the belief that what I have to offer is a gift and who I am is a work of art.

The Power of a Purge is about clearing out stagnant chi from your mind, body, and spirit – on a cellular level. It is about getting rid of the thoughts and memories stored in your being that take up space and prevent you from receiving what you want to come through. It's time for a daily spring cleaning!

Intuitives I rate and mention in this episode include:
Ainslie MacLeod the author of The Instruction: Living the Life Your Soul Intended
Brendan Durrell the intuitive who talked about the importance of uploading on Instagram
