Capitalism for Progressivism Penelope Flynn

On opposite ends of the spectrum we have Michael Moore who has stated, "Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil. You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy." contrasted with New York's previous mayor, Michael Bloomberg who has been quoted as saying, "The left is arising, The progressive movement is just as scary."  

Capitalism is an economic system while Progressivism is defined as a political system focused on social advocacy.  Can Capitalism be used to support the goals of Progressivism? Are the two Mikes right or wrong?
