Commanders Perspective: Dallas Cowboys Are In BIG Trouble + Brandon McManus Released By Washington

Commanders Perspective: Dallas Cowboys Are In BIG Trouble + Brandon McManus Released By Washington

There is a break in both the NHL and NBA thanks to the Dallas Mavericks beating the Minnesota Timberwolves in just 5 games and the Dallas Stars choking as the higher seed to the Edmonton Oilers. So, naturally, we bring you an episode on the least successful Dallas franchise of this millenium - The Dallas Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys are running it back with the usual suspects - Mike McCarthy as Head Coach, Dak Prescott as QB, CeeDee Lamb at Wide Receiver, and Micah Parsons as their elite EDGE rusher. However... something is off with each of them. The vibes just aren't quite there... nor are the contracts. Mike McCarthy heads into the final year of his contract as coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Could that be renewed? History says it won't be. Dak Prescott, instead of getting an extension, is playing out the final year of his contract. Will he be re-signed by the team? Who knows. Then there's his superstar WR CeeDee Lamb. He waited for Justin Jefferson to get paid, and boy did he. 4 years, $140 million for the Vikings WR with $110 million guaranteed. Will Dallas pay him even more than that? Then what about Micah Parsons, who has been in and out of OTAs because he simply feels like it? There are a lot of variables with their best players and their head coach, spelling potential doom for their upcoming season.

The Cowboys did little to bolster their roster in free agency or the draft, with their top signing being their former RB Ezekiel Elliott.

Brandon McManus was cut by the Washington Commanders, presumably after gathering enough information to be able to safely determine that it was not worth keeping him on the team after the civil suit was filed against him by 2 flight attendants. The Commanders are now in search for a new kicker.

Washington Commanders 2024 CEILING + Emmanuel Forbes Expectations + Brandon McManus Allegations

Washington Commanders 2024 CEILING + Emmanuel Forbes Expectations + Brandon McManus Allegations

What is the ceiling for our Washington Commanders this upcoming season? We have a new owner, general manager, head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, quarterback and front office. How far can Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels take us this coming season? KDot and Amit give their opinions on how far this team can go.

Emmanuel Forbes had a photo with a player at his camp go viral because the camper looks bigger than Forbes. While that is obviously nothing, it does spark the conversation around Emmanuel Forbes and his upcoming 2nd season in the NFL. What are expectations for him? How will he fare in this new system that Joe Whitt Jr. is going to be running?

Unfortunately, Brandon McManus, the Commanders new kicker, finds himself in the news for all the wrong reasons. A civil suit has been filed against him for sexual assault by two former flight attendants on the Jaguars team plane from a flight on the way to London. KDot and Amit chime in on the situation.

The Comment Mailbag has over 15 comments this week and we read them all! Thank you guys for the comments!

AFTER THE POD discusses the NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics, the joint practice with the New York Jets, and Amit's birthday shenanigans.

Commanders LOADED Front Office, Mina Kimes Dan Quinn "Hot Seat" Take + OTA Observations & Questions

Commanders LOADED Front Office, Mina Kimes Dan Quinn "Hot Seat" Take + OTA Observations & Questions

The Washington Commanders made 2 more significant front office hires in Brandon Sosna, new Senior Vice President of Football Operations, and David Blackburn, new Director of Player Personnel. Sosna is a young rising star that comes from the Detroit Lions. Brad Holmes, Detroit Lions GM, thinks very highly of him and clearly Adam Peters does too. David Blackburn has been with the Baltimore Ravens for 17 years! He's incredibly well-respected, and our front office now holds people from San Francisco, Detroit and Baltimore.

OTAs have kicked off for the Commanders and we discuss the main observations that we have from them. Jayden Daniels, the #2 overall pick and franchise QB hopeful, has looked brilliant so far. Bobby Wagner has exhibited the leadership we've hoped for already. What other observations do we have?

That being said, there are still big questions that need answering. How quickly will this roster gel together? It is the largest turnover for this franchise in about 80 years! What about the offensive line, specifically? What about Kliff Kingsbury's offense? Will Emmanuel Forbes take a leap forward this season at CB?

Mina Kimes ranked coaches on the hot seat, and made a claim that Dan Quinn could be one and done here in Washington. Amit goes off on the comments, while KDot is much more measured.

Washington Commanders PREDICTIONS Game-By-Game, Dan Quinn Shirt, Rookie Minicamp + OTAs Underway

The Washington Commanders had their schedule officially announced on Wednesday night, and it's time for the way too early predictions for each game on the schedule! KDot and Amit go through game-by-game discussing wins, losses, storylines, etc.

Dan Quinn recently wore a Commanders shirt with a couple feathers attached as a throwback to the old logo. What did you think of the shirt along with the conversations that came with it? What about the comments from Montana Senator Steve Daines in wanting to bring back the old name?

Rookie minicamp occurred and OTAs are in full swing as the Commanders gear up for their upcoming NFL season. What are early thoughts on the team and how it's looking? Is Jayden Daniels going to have a similar season to CJ Stroud his rookie year?

Jayden Daniels Wears #5 For Commanders, Tress Way Praise, Keyshawn All Facts Interview, VR Impact

Jayden Daniels Wears #5 For Commanders, Tress Way Praise, Keyshawn All Facts Interview, VR Impact

The Washington Commanders FINALLY dropped rookie numbers for the upcoming season, and number 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels will be wearing #5, just as he did at LSU. This means that Tress Way, our 2x Pro Bowler and All-Pro Punter, will be finding a new number to wear. In an emotional interview with some former Commanders in Fred Smoot, Santana Moss and Logan Paulsen, Tress Way announced that he has given his number to Jayden Daniels. Tress Way showed why he is so loved and adored by our fanbase. Should he have given up his number?

Jayden Daniels was also on the "All Facts No Brakes" podcast, hosted by former NFL WR Keyshawn Johnson. The interview covered the NFC East, Commanders, the bet between now NYG WR Malik Nabers and Jayden, and Virtual Reality.

On the subject of VR, KDot breaks down what he has learned around virtual reality, what it does, how it helps Jayden Daniels, and how it can revolutionize the NFL if used correctly.

Washington Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Recap - Jayden Daniels, Johnny Newton, Mike Sainristil, etc.

Washington Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Recap - Jayden Daniels, Johnny Newton, Mike Sainristil, etc.

The Washington Commanders came away from the 2024 NFL Draft with 9 new players. They are Jayden Daniels (QB, LSU), Johnny Newton (DT, Illinois), Mike Sainristil (CB, Michigan), Ben Sinnott (TE, Kansas State), Brandon Coleman (OG/OT, TCU), Luke McCaffrey (WR, Rice), Jordan Magee (LB, Temple), Dominique Hampton (S, Washington) and Javontae Jean-Baptiste (EDGE, Notre Dame). What do you all think of the draft that the Commanders had?

Now the question turns to the offensive line. Do we need to go get a Donovan Smith or David Bakhtiari? Or are we fine with Cornelius Lucas and Brandon Coleman?

The undrafted FAs that we signed are highlighted by QB Sam Hartman, also from Notre Dame. Do we think any of them will have an impact?

We discuss the Michael Penix pick that absolutely rocked the NFL world. Was it a good pick or bad pick? Where does this leave Kirk Cousins, fresh off signing a 4 year, $180 million deal with $100 million guaranteed.
