Viktor struggles to piece together his friend's memories on a black sand beach in the Dream World. Before he can finish, his work is interrupted.

Viktor travels to the base of the Cenotaph. There he meditates, opening himself to a sea of thought and memory—the traces of the inhabitants of Vaskania Prime who came to stand there before him.

Viktor meets another dreamer and sets off towards the Cenotaph. On his way, he fends off an attack.
