In this episode we discuss "Yinka, Where is Your Huzband?" by Lizzie Damilola Blackburn. In this rom-com novel we follow Yinka, a successful woman who has a good job, her own mortgage and a good group of friends. That isn't enough for her mother and aunties though because there is no husband! In preparation for her cousins wedding, Yinka decides to find a date as a means of relieving some of the pressure. We discuss this pressure to get married that is extremely common in ethnic minority communities as well as the colourism and texturism Lizzie depicts as she describes Yinka's dating experiences. We really enjoyed this novel and would highly recommend it!
