The Pretender is a podcast hosted by Jay and addresses real life experiences by real people for real people.
In a world that is filled with masked struggles, failures and mental battles, people are suffering silently and social media is pushing the boundaries. Most don't know where to start to break free; Jay breaks the ice by talking about and calling out his own struggles to show you there's a way to be free of the expectations of society. There's no super human, and there's no need for us to be pretending to be one. If you wanna know its ok to be a normal human being, come listen to me tell you all about my own personal struggles - who knows? Maybe we could cry and laugh about it together.

Where is your faith, Jay?
In November of 2016, Jay underwent a surgical procedure to repair his left Achilles tendon after it completely ruptured. He made full recovery in a record 6-7 months and went back to playing his beloved basketball.
Well, seven full years later on the 16th of October 2023; Jay devastatingly went through the same procedure on his other leg. This experience agonizingly has brought so much shock and Jay speaks about it today.

I'm sorry that I let you down
In this episode Jay pens a letter of apology to all the people in his life that he let down by choosing his own path. He gets a little personal in saying sorry for the unrealized potential that he left to pursue his own enterprise and how he is at peace with the fruits of that process 7 years later. Everyone of us needs a therapy session, Jay just thought his was saying sorry.

Going back
In this episode Jay talks about how life is taking him back to parts of his life that he left behind. He goes in circles talking about going back to old relationships including professional relationships even giving an analogy of puppies and dogs! Yes he was philosophical about this experience until he decided to finally get to the whole point of this episode - sharing how life has helped him reconnect with his own siblings and family through the death of his grandma!
