NIWC Atlantic’s Use of Data Analytics (Ep. 18)

Description:
Data collection and analysis is quickly becoming an integral part of modern society. It is also an essential tool for U.S. naval operations. In this episode, co-hosts Chelsie and Alex dive into the various ways Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic is using data to further progress.

First, Chelsie speaks with NIWC Atlantic Chief Data Officer Janie Carson. She explains how data affects both the business and mission side of NIWC Atlantic goals. Next, Alex speaks with Jessi Staats a department lead in our command information office, who draws the connection of how data speeds internal processes and then, in turn, helps the warfighter. Data is furthering capabilities and decision-making in efficient ways that put NIWC Atlantic at the forefront of progress!

Lastly, Chelsie and Alex speak with Lieutenant Commander Alberto Osvath, who is an operations manager at our Hampton Roads location in Virginia. He shares about the importance of service and seeking mentorship opportunities to become the best Sailor possible.

Quantum Technology at NIWC Atlantic (Ep. 15)

Description:
Let’s chat about the mysterious technology that is quantum! In Episode 17, co-hosts Chelsie and Alex speak with NIWC Atlantic physicist Dr. Robert Younts who is a quantum information action officer in the science and technology department. Using his experience, he addresses a wide range of questions on quantum technology, including how it will be used in tandem with artificial intelligence.

Starting with the basics, Dr. Younts explains what quantum technology is, shares some information about how NIWC Atlantic is using it to improve sensors for the warfighter, and advises how to get started within quantum science career fields. Technically Speaking Podcast NIWC Atlantic Overseas Support (Ep.15)

In this episode our hosts Chelsie and Alex sit with 4 different members of our overseas workforce. Yes, we have teammates in various regions of the world providing essential technical support to our Navy fleet!

First, Chelsie speaks with NIW Atlantic Middle East Officer in Charge Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Tricia Nguyen, in our Bahrain location. She speaks about what life is like currently serving in the middle east. She also briefly touches on how NIWC Atlantic is supporting efforts involved with the current Israel-Hamas conflict.

Next, Alex speaks with NIWC Atlantic Europe and Africa Officer in Charge Commander (CDR) Alexander Williams who serves in Naples, Italy. He details the significance of strategically providing support within both of our Europe and Africa strategic locations.

Lastly, Chelsie and Alex both sit with 2 members of our civilian workforce John Keathley, a NIWC Atlantic Engineer and Joseph Walker, a NIWC Atlantic Senior Competency Manager, both located in our Europe locations. They describe the essential work they do and how rewarding it is to have direct contact with active-duty military while creating information warfare solutions; furthering the importance of civilian and military collaborations within the NIWC Atlantic workforce!
